i've always tried to have some sort of common theme to my toons over the years. first few i made in pnp were all named after characters from Tolkien. second set were all named after pain relievers, have no idea why i picked that theme. so when i started DDO i came up with a theme for it, since i rather enjoy cooking on the grill the majority are named after what you can cook, i am aware that the correct spelling of my secondary toon should be bratwurst but, since everyone likes to shorten names to the first syllable i went with the phonetic spelling so i wouldn't be called "brat" in chat.

Well, I suppose if I tried to explain that Ungood was not an Orwellian reference when I first started using it during my EQ days, no one would believe me, so. moving on to my other toons.

Well most of the names I come up, I simply try to think of names that try to sound fitting to what I want to build, for example.Vindul my paladin it just sounded powerful, impressive, and fitting for a Horc Pally. In many cases I will take almost as much time pondering a proper name for my toons as I will take planning them out, which says volumes at how little I plan compared to how much I should.

But none the less, that is my motive for most of my toons.

ok ok ok. i'll own up to it... i have a drizzt. or more accurately... Omgitsa NotherDrizztClone (female ranger/fighter/barb with dual khopesh and purplish eyes. )

the name in my sig is a bit of an inside joke with my family, and a very longstanding one from EverQuest. my husband and his brother both play, and we all played EQ together. one day we were chatting and the bro-in-law mentions "i was thinking about making an enchanter." my husband shoots back "but realized they suck?" bro-in-law responds "keep it up and yer hunting with a magician named Useless!" about a week later he rolled up an enchanter named Eustless. he recreated the name in this game, and we were joking around again, and this time i responded to the jabbing with "Keep it up and yer hunting with a bard named Pointless!" wait... thats a good idea... lol

Pickt d'Locks (pronounced picked... why does everyone pronounce it picket???) was my second character ever... originally a mechanic rogue. he's now an assassin... but still with strong trapping skills.

Tenandahalf Seconds to a Shrine is a Tukaw style build i'm having some fun with. i was joking with my husband about being just out of reach of a shrine in some dungeon, and i was like "that would be a perfect name!"

Complains Outtamana is a lowbie cleric. name is a mashup. first name is the first name of a character from a webcomic i love, and last name was the last name of a high level cleric i knew and respected in EQ.

Gimpie McGimpPants fighter/FvS/wiz. what more needs to be said? tried to make the worst gimp i could on a dare from hubby.

Katzklaw.. my favored soul... name is a carryover from the first character of the first RPG i ever played. i use the name, or a shortened version, almost everywhere.

Tienshi - horc paladin/monk. white hair, halo. divine holy warrior of the gods. her name is kinda a combination of the Japanese and Chinese word for Angel (Tenshi and Tiānshǐ respectively). i still have the tagline "angel of vengeance" in my bio, even tho that technically belongs to favored souls now

Madchen (pronounced metchen, like the name Gretchen)- dwarven wiz/rog pale master. she was ORIGINALLY a warforged. at the time i thought the name was silly and cool and fitting because it means "girl" in german and you can't tell warforged male from female.

Dayre McShayne - ranger/rog. carryover of a thief character who disguised herself as a ranger in an old RPG i played. i wanted Dare as a first name, and an irish sounding last name, so i paged thru a phone book and looked at all the Mc names and O' names and anything else that looked gaelic-ish. McShane caught my eye.

My main's name (morfane), as well as the surname on several toons comes from the old pc game Master of Orion, everything else I use I just come up with.

Deisy Lightbringer - Elena Lightbringer was the name of my paladin back when I played NwN. So nothing more natural than trying it here - along with 10 different variations of "Elena". So I gave up and named her as a mispelled flower.

Abimael - A random generation of some keystrokes back when, again, I played NwN. Today... I think it has a deeper meaning. Let's see... A is the 1st letter of my true love in this god-forsakken world, "b" is the 1st letter of my name, "ima" is the triad of virtues I value most on a woman: Intelligence, Mind, and "Amor". Then "el"... I think this means I'm an angel? Who knows...

Anomanie - Another random keystroke generation. Personally it's kind of funny to hear americans and english people trying to speak this over voicechat.

Ellowyin Nightwalker - Can you think of a name more roguish than this? A colleague that I don't see for like 8 years now once told me this another name had a meaning... wish I could talk to her again.

Ignuz - BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURNSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSS. That's all I have to say.

wow, thinking back, it's been a while..
I love Dragons, so Dragonya was my first toon.. so I continued the Dragon theme for a bit, with Dragonsclaw and Dragonstone
But then I really got hooked into casters.. omg.. lol..
' Lemuria ' who is named after the Lemurian legends in the star system in Pleiades.. became a favorite,
as I'm really into the Mystical.. 'Lem' became my wizzy.. I played on her a lot and my alts all got parked, that is where most vet players know me by 'Lem'.
I was offline for a while,
when I came back I wanted to try sorcerer,
so 'Littlemama Whooopass' was born

I don't recall where I saw that name, and when I chose a halfling it came to mind.. it reminded me of when I worked in Toronto long ago, and saw a teeny little woman who had four huge kids, twice the size of her, and they were giving her a hard time.. and with one swift swoop like a lightning fast three stooges moment she whooped them all into line..
ok, kinda dorky but fun.. I just love Littlemama.. ( and I guess I'm a wee bit vertically challenged myself ..lol.. )

with my love of Dragons, my Native art and SF movies, I then saw all the wonderful goodies that came with a guild, sooo...made my lil Guild, 'Mystic Mountain Dragonriders'
Tahotay my wf fighter ( a takeoff of chakotay of startrek), Tooruk sorc ( movie), Kahunna just newly made test wf Fav soul, Mysticwillow my bard, were born,

then there's 'Intrepid Bear'.. my young WF sorcerer, whom I have yet to level up.. .
Is named after me, and named after a most incredible journey I did a few years back.. we were the first ever group of artists that floated down the Colorado river on a raft, all the way thru the heart of the Grand Canyon. 250 miles.. camping and doing art.. We called ourselves the Intrepids. It was tough, but the journey of a lifetime..

I have a couple other toons, which are holders right now, as I've accumulated some kewl stuff..

Many of my characters are named after songs. Most of the rest got named from a character generator because I was too lazy to open my Winamp playlist.

Saphinia= name I made up and was my very first toon wanted to have a little melee and decent surviveability and was the first to use my w/p rapier Lots of my other characters were made around this weapon.
Liezza was another pally that I really didn't like too much to play

Blohnde Moment: Thought was a funny play on words

Shakkei: translates to borrowed scenery, it is a style of Japanese Gardens, in which during design and construct,ion landmarks are taken into consideration so that it appears to be part of the garden or at least its view.

Gaelsong Sirfalas: Gaelsong is a celtic themed mail order company, but thought was a fitting name for a bard, the surname I have used on many an elf over the years, and I stole it from someone I used to play with on Runescape, which was my first MMO.

Redhawt Candy, Liethal Candy, Deviliscious Candy: Again just play on words that I liked, the three sisters

Sanctified: NIN song I've always liked

Punkrawk: Play on words on punk rocker of course, inspired by the Dead Milkmen.

Fuhgly Asitgets: Ugly as sin dwarf, enough said

My two mains, Romenion and Morgulion, both come from J.R.R. Tolkein's elvish languages.

My Hawai'ian name in real life means the dawn. Romen is Quenya for morning.

Morgul is Sindarin for sorcery/necromancy. Morgulion is an old AD&D character from back in the day. An elven magic-user that dabbled in necromancy and planar travel. In Eberron, he's a Pale Master.

-ion is just a masculine suffix.
