What was the reasoning behind your characters name?

I listen to a pretty broad range of music, but even to this day there's always a spot in my playlist for good old punkrock. I was lucky enough growing up that I had some friends who couldn't stand the **** on the radio and made me tons of cassettes that broadened my horizons, and the Ramones were one of my favorites.

One of the better lesssons in life is learning to appreciate a wide variety of music, but yes my heart is in rock, usually leaning to alternative/punk/goth.

Where you been anyways? Was running with Homer and your guildees lil bit the last two days, and no Natty for my wf to oogle. Whats a wf to do I tell ya.

While signing in at another geeky hobby I didn't have a last name yet, so the person making the tournament bracket supplied "the Lost" for a last name. She said it's one of a few stock last names she uses when she wants to make sure people don't get mixed up (guess I didn't qualify for "the Dashing" or even "the Tall"). After that my toons got "the Lost" as a last name.

Other than that I try to keep the names to one syllable because my first toon's name was 5 syllables long and everybody shortened it to one.

Yaaah about a month ago my cpu took a dump after a power outage and the graphics cards won't startup. Heh, the color black no longer appears on the screen, its a very calming electric blue. You'll go crosseyed in under 15 secs if you stare at it too long.

Got something new coming in at somepoint, so I'm on a little break atm. Miss hangin with everyone!

My only recourse has been to check out the forums. I think I've posted more in the last 4 weeks than the previous 4 years.

For me... hmm.
It comes in a flash. Generally I type out a letter or two and see what comes from it. I also tend to run into the name being taken at least once.

I'll hand out some of mine

Veriden: From a table top game, one of my oldest and still running characters through out my rp history. In his home land the name is not so much name sake as it is a title alias meaning Crimson Serpent. Named after the blood trails he purposefully left behind of his victims when ever he assassinated a city official due to his vendetta against authority figures. Eventually he succeeded in slaying the royal figure head that had ordered his family's public execution as an example to all whom thought to betray him. The king was a lich with many spells to protect his identity, it was Nailo's(a common elven boy's name, Veriden's real name.) family who specialized in information networks that discovered this secret but was eventually caught when they tried to reveal it to the temple of Heironious whom told the king's men of the blasphemy which was spoken against the king. Veriden later killed every paladin and priest with in that temple after he revealed the king's true nature to them. The rest of Veriden's story would take days to type up for being a character nearly a decade old and with out an ending to his story as of this moment.

Rivven: The name given to an elven child meaning River runner. Rivven's story was fairly short in pnp due to an unfortunate end he had met due to poor rolls, his story never came to the climax worthy of note. (rolled a very poorly placed 1 on a save against a death effect.)

Airethas: This one is relatively new, my first ddo character whose background starts in ebberon, nothing particularly special about him just a man whom does what he can to protect those he trusts.

Xevic: 'The man of bad luck' This is the guy whom got killed by bats in the catacombs (due to lag unable to move and attacks were registering so when it came to pass my soulstone was there and he had died with 3 bats fluttering about still.) I had named him appropriately it would seem. For he was named after his typist's bad luck. Since then he has died a total of 17 times in 2 lives each one in rather mundane ways. Gutted by Arrietrikoes, used as a golf ball by sorjek while accidently dragging featherfall boots off of the hot bar instead of equipping them, turned to ash by Raiyum and so on and so forth.

All my characters on Argo start with "Lucard" followed by two other letters. Honestly, "Lucard" just seemed like an interesting and old-timey sounding basis for my character names and I wanted my characters to all be tied to one another so people would know they were being played by the same person.

When I used to play on Khyber I had unique names for each and every one of my characters. Some were based partially on fantasy characters, others were inspired by characters I've played in D&D before. A few were inspired particularly by Eberron. But that server is dead to me now.

Aladdeen - should be obvious

Sensate - virtuoso bard, so it is derivation of "sensual"

Mystaras - this one is somewhat tortuous. He is Paladin/Sorc, eventually Air Savant, so I think of him as lightning-wielding holy warrior of goddess of magic. Except a) names cannot have apostrophies, and b) I mis-remembered Mystra of Forgotten Realms as "Mystara". So his full name is Mystaras Lightning.

Jackknife- I made my drow rogue to fix the mistakes I had made on my first two elven ones (good PnP builds didn't necessarily translate well to DDO). My first couple of choices from my PnP characters were taken, so I finally settled on Jackknife just to start playing him. I thought it was a decent name for a rogue.

Threechords- My bard. There are any number of great songs that use only 3 chords, and I always liked that line from Earache My Eye.

Born Again Pagan- I used to have a t-shirt with those words on it and showed a bunch of stick figures dancing around a big fire. I felt it was appropriate for a cleric.

Nerft Powers- When I first started playing, there was somebody on the forums always crying about casters being nerfed. Unlike now, of course . I liked the name and even caught flak for it when first created.

Midnyght Rambler- A slight misspelling of a favorite Stones song.

Other names: Unlucky Charms, Rypttem Annewwonn, Mobslayer, etc.
