Finally found a browser that the forums like...

...that wasn't IE or Firefox.

Don't get me wrong, there are things about firefox to like, but that stupid confirmation box i got anytime it felt it needed to resend data drove me nuts. Finally uninstalled for good. And of course, IE while it's come a long way is still slow (though at least they don't change shortcuts every single release like Opera does -love Opera, but it's been getting slower to load, and positively glacial to UNload since 10. And of course, DDO forums hate it.)

Google Chrome, the word is it's fast, and i'm sure it is, but there's all that Big Google Is Watching You stuff that, while it pays the bills for google, doesn't really do us any good.

SRWare Iron, while based on chromium (the google engine), is rebuilt to remove everything that's bad about Chrome, while leaving most of what's good (fewer addons, tho. that's the price). And my jaw dropped a little inside when i got the login confirm to these forums, which are notoriously picky about which browser they let in the door.

How would this forum be picky? What are some browsers that would be excluded?

Nothing is intentionally excluded, just that some browsers do things differently (i.e. in a non-standard way.0 I could never log into you tube on Opera until 10 or 11. I put up with it for so long since Opera always had all the best toys first, and standard (so you didn't lose half the features on every update, till the addon people got off their butts.)

But in much the same way that I've tried not to reinstall anything I don't absolutely need (after having to wipe system partition), i'm determined to get used to the minimalism that is unadorned Iron. (you can puff it out with most of chrome's addons, but i've been down that road. it leads to 1313 Slowmedown Lane, Bloatsville, Lagveria.)

Sounds like a setting problem. I use opera exclusively and have no problems with the forums.

I use Opera, and got so used to it that I can't even see that as a problem anymore. I got a similar problem on my D&D Insider account, I can only log on the community, and I must do it to download Dragon articles.

But besides this small problem, Opera is still the best browser around.
