Stuck on the Loading Screen and more besides...

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but after booting up the client and downloading the new material today I tried to log in to play. Took my client a while to connect, but it did and the screen where I should have been able to see my characters was black, entirely so, so much that there was nothing in the main window to see. The character menu down the side was visible however, so I selected one of them and hit Enter. At which point I got the "Welcome to Eberron" loading screen adn thats all I saw, that screen sitting there doing nothing, as the status bar did not move at all. I've tried several times now (and with different characters) and each time the exact same result.

If a Dev is reading this please help as I truly have no idea what to do to resolve this issue.

I am having the same exact issue. Maybe due to everyone downloading it at the same time?

well its better than "program cant start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"

All I get is exceptions at log in and then a crash. Can anyone advise? I downloaded the update.
Error: Resource string not found. Anyone having the same issue?

I'm going to ask the obvious question but have you tried restarting your computers?

Also in the same boat. Downloaded updated, got to a black char screen, loading screen makes no progress. I guess this is part of the standard update day snags.

thanks ddo, at least we get to enjoy trying to figure out how to play, being stuck in loading screen, once again another smooth update . .. just tell me what i need to pay to make this work, it's not like the money i feed into ddo supports you guys . . ..

Same. Downloaded update. Selected server. Selected toon. Stuck now for 20 minutes on the "Welcome" loading screen. Bar doesnt move.

I love the one step foward, two steps back approach Turbine!

Yes I have already done this. No it does not make a difference, the problem persists. I'm now re-downloading the client and seeing if that works. About an hour until I can find out.

at least tell us you up, and give us a time we can sign on and enjoy the great new update you have promised us . . .. if it aint working, tell us, thats all we expect . .. . we can can wait, dont be like microsoft and get stuck having too explain .. . oops, you are the beta testers . . .. crazy, still loading, and it says . . . loading . . . please wait . . . how long do we wait

Ditto on all this. Black screens, can't load. Have other thread too. You get the idea. I can't play till later tonight regardless, but would really like to know what's up. And if I'll get to play tonight.

Those of you getting into DDO with blank screen - go into options and deselect DX10 (I read this somewhere else - haven't tried it myself)

This is related to a known issue with Intel users. If you are getting a black screen + the UI, go to your options and disable DX10 and enable DX9, then restart the game client. This should correct the issue.

I'm assuming you guys are working on fixing the issue so that we can go back to the DX10 graphics? Or am I assuming too much?
