This is certainly the conventional wisdom, but I'm not entirely convinced.

From 18 Monk to 20 Monk, you gain +1 AC, +1 hit, +2 damage. You also gain 10/epic DR, the capstone boost to Ki, and Shadow Walk.

It seems like losing all those benefits and gaining access to scrolls of Stoneskin, Shield, Divine Power and Divine Favor would be well worth the tradeoff.

A lvl 20 monk has a base fist dmg of 2d10 not 3d6. 3d6 does an avg of 10.5, 2d10 does and avg of 11.

stoneskin is available in clicky(shroud items) if you're doing a lot of soloing, and if not just carry the re-agent and have someone cast on you

    shield is clicky

DP would actually have no effect on a pure monk geared properly beyond temporary hitpoints(aid/greater heroism clicky) you already get full BAB if using monk weapons and the str boost is enhancement i.e. doesn't stack with the +6 str item you should be wearing. oh, and its also available as a clicky.

    divine favor is a clicky

so you're dropping all the pure benefits(btw, you left off lower DC's for special attacks) to spend more money(since scrolls are a consumable, eventually they will trump the price of the clickies) for effects you could get anyway.
