One of my guildies has an entire room full of D&D stuff. In fact, his D&D room is as big as my entire apartment (well, almost). He knows almost every rule front and back for all of the rule sets. I'll see if I can convince him to send you a PM.

18/00 str? +3 attack and +6 damage? lol i remember that. thac0 = to hit armor class 0. similar to current system except its not designed for people that cant add or substract

thac0 is a dear but unmissed friend for me. Explaining how to calculate it to a new player was one of the most frustrating things as a DM. I think the 3.0 + system is a bit better, though I am sure that will draw lots of hate I was at Gencon when 3.0 was relased and have my players handbook signed by Dave and believe me then I was super resistant to change. But as with hybrid cars change can be a good thing. What would your ac be now if we switched back to the Thac0 system....-43 assuming -10 is not the cap.

I just recently sold my *Mint* copy of Deities and Demigods (with the Cthullu and Melnibonean Mythos in it) on ebay for a ton, I remember looking at all of the entries and looking at Indra (head god of the Indian Mythos) who had all 25 for Str, Int, Wis, Dex, Con, Cha and Comeliness

.......And wondered if I could ever have a charater with a stat as high as that......

Comeliness - must not have been a really early copy of it since I do not believe this stat existed in the first copy.
(edit here, it's been a long time since I thought about a lot of things. I recall comeliness was sorta ad-hoc added after the initial books, but not when precisely. I didn't think it was even listed for the attributes for the original book...no clue about later printings)

I started playing on June 19th 1975 and 21 years later to the day I married my lovely wife from Translyvania. I still prefer 1st edtion ad&d with no splat books I will say I did change ac as I never lilke the charts in 1st and then thaco in second I use a modifed version of the ac system from 3.0 other then that I use 1st edtion all the way except on the rare occasion I run orginal dnd

No I agree on the ac system I hated it and I run 1st ed with a 3.0 ac system

The closest I've gotten to anything past 2nd ed has been puter/online games.

Before Ebay and 'legal electronic copies' destroyed the market, those editions could nab well into 3-digit prices. (I miss the old newsgroup alt.marketplace days...)

Played em all from basic to expert to when the Unearthed Arcana and other additions first came out (Greyhawk mostly). I also remember how excited i was to have a Str 17 on my fighter and a Intel of 16 on a wizard. Those were good times, as well as the 1st time I ever ran the Slavers Series (or Against the Giants) and the Temple of Elemental Evil in version 3.5

Most of my books I sold long ago or were donated to someone by my parents when I went to college.
