The problem with plat farmers can be easily overcome (i think) Here is my ideas (i know, some of them are already been discussed... but still)
1. The easy ''making it impossible to send tell if you are on a trial account''. Some players seem to confuse new players with trial account players. While in fact, those are 2 different things. The new player is a paying player. Therefor, he can send tells. The trial account is someone who do not pay. Therefore, should not be allowed to send tells. If you are on a trial account, you know that you have limited access to stuff. Just like when you are using a freeware version of a software. If you want more options, pay for the whole thing. The reason is that the plat farmers are using trial account to send their tells (spamming), so if the get banned, there is nothing much to loose.
2. There must be a way to see if an item is duplicated. I really dont see how someone can collect 20 dragons scales at such a rapid rate without some way of cheating. I've been on dragon raid many times, and only got 1 scales. But on the auction house (the paradise for plat farmers) you see them like if they were dropping like +1 arrows. Plus, it should be possible to investigate the account who are sending all that stuff. I mean, im pretty sure its all come from a few accounts... strange things...
3. Also, the plat farmer will delete the spammer character to avoid getting caught, then create a new character and start sending tells again. I played Ultima Online for 3 years.. and they found an easy way to overcome this. in UO, you cant delete a newly created character right away. You need to wait 8 days. Maybe 8 days is a little bit long when you try a new build, but the players are use to this in UO, and may I remember those who dont know, that UO exist for 10 years now... and it is still going on, so it did not hurt the game at all.
4. The controversial thing now... players should be banned if caught buying from plat farmers. The thing is.. if the plat farmers exist, it is because, players are buying from them. But if the players stop buying, cause they dont want to be banned, then the plat farmers goes away...How to do that? I dont know.. but still.. maybe there is a way to monitor large amount of plat changing hands and stuff... and see what is going on.
