I went to a movie the other day.

Got some pop corn and a coke.

1/2 way thru the movie I was out of pop corn, so i went to the concession stand and asked them to replace my pop corn, because they had new pop corn in the machine. They laughed at me.

Then I asked if they would allow me to give them my empty cup for a new cup of pop corn. They still laughed.

Why on earth wouldnt they give me more pop corn? I got some when I went in, I should be able to get more anytime after that.

Now all I have is the munchies and a movie I missed 1/3 of, for tryin to convince the concession stand to give me more pop corn.

I'm going to stop going to that theatre, the one down the street has free pop corn. It's just too bad their movies are lame.

It's interesting how many Mournland testers crafted greensteel items before the better one were all of a sudden introduced for Mod7; guess you have the monopoly on crystal balls.
It's more interesting how many guilds of testers on ML complete each and every new raid before anyone else.

And yes I do have the monopoly on crystal balls it appears....... well except for them taking away the WDAs. That came as a complete surprise.

No you do NOT have a monopoly on the crystal balls ... I saw this comeing from a mile away as well. Besides I heard from Balzuru that you got no balls .

Yes more would be added to NEW raids/quests, noone in their right mind would expect non-retroactive changes and additions to the OLD raids and quests.

By your logic, you would be OK with a mod 7 mineral crafted khopesh being superior to a mod6 mineral 2 crafted khopesh too; Mod 7 mineral 2 crafted khopesh from the Shroud=2d8 base damage, mod6 mineral 2 crafted khopesh from the shrous= 1d10 base damage; sorry you should have consulted the chicken bones.
Absurd right? It's as ridiculous as your claims and interpretation of the situation.

P.S. I suppose you are also happy with the "usage" of splintered horns? "very desirable" indeed...

    Dungeons and Dragons.

First the D&D rules really only require "GPs" to craft items so while you can't get everything back out of an item, just selling it gets you a portion of the "investment" back.

Second, check out the Artificer's Retain Essence ability. It lets you get the XP out of a magic item and then put it into another item.

In D&D, all that's required to craft things is GPs and XPs.

/don't care one way or the other.

Put this in the same category as level 16 respec of characters - a good idea that the developers will never put into effect.

That I could go for... Other people decided to hold off crafting to wait for these new items, in fairness to them there should be a heavy cost to change out items for those that wanted instant uber and now regret their choice after benefitting from the items for so long.

I'd suggest a similar ritual for all items though...for example using the same forumula let me change my GS necklace to a GS bracer if I wished...

Yes, class-level respec would be a good idea. But unlike the suggestion above, it would require a huge amount of programming work.

Another indication that we're in the age of the do-over.

    • What about the players who sacrificed items to find out what recipes worked and what didn't. Can they get a do-over?
    • What about the people who made one type of dragon scales and now want a different set. Can they get a do-over?
    • How about the people who payed ridiculous prices at the AH for items. Can they get a do-over?
    • Oh, and don't forget the people with the gimpy builds. Can they get a do-over too?
    • What about the players who buy DDO on a monthly basis. Can they get a do-over and get it on yearly basis retroactive?
    • And finally can they players who bought a computer a year ago get a do-over, for a new computer?

Give me a break!. Accept responsibility and move on. You choose to make the items. No one forced you to.

Not signed. Not in agreement. Total waste of resources.

You made the item, you knew new things and changes were in the works, live with it and make a new one. It really is that simple. Now if it is a correction the base portion changed then there should be a way to 'correct' the change. Example: Wis +4 to Wis +6, to match the Int +6 and Chr +6. I believe this was oversight and it was being corrected, not changed. But as far as I can tell, a basically free update because base damage, crit range or something similar, should NOT be allowed, as it is a change, not a correction.

If it is not broken, then it does not need to be 'fixed'. Like many others, I would like to see 'fixes' for the majority, for the betterment of the player-base, instead of fixes for the 'I want it now' minority because they failed to look forward.

In the event that the devs added a new, superior item buyable with the same old dragon scales, then YES, they should be allowed to trade up.

No, because the auction prices aren't set by the devs. They're set by players, who unlike the devs do not have a professional responsibility to entertain the playerbase.

In the event that the build was made gimpy by game rule changes after the character was created, then YES, they should be allowed to respec those choices.

Untrue. What we knew is that there would be new crafting in the future.

That means some day they will add a "real crafting" system that can be used to make items all over the game world for all levels of characters, not something restricted to one raid. Shroud crafting is a "prototype" for real crafting... and it is still a prototype, and real crafting still hasn't come yet.

This is logical: Shroud crafting from module 6 is a prototype for eventual expanded crafting options
This is illogical: Module 6 Shroud crafting is a prototype for superior module 7 Shroud crafting
The first statement is supported by the announcements, the second is incoherent.

I don't care if you are against the change... but will people stop saying

YOU KNEW WHEN YOU MADE IT THAT THERE WOULD BE CHANGES IN THE TYPES OF BLANKS YOU COULD MAKE.

There were threads up to the wire asking if axes were going to be added, there were tons of threads asking why axes weren't in there already. There were no dev responses about what was going to be added and it was even a pleasant surprise to find that axes were there after it made live.

Hindsight is 20/20. There was no indication before that anything new would be added.

It personally doesn't affect me all that much because I have dual lightning strike dwarven axes... I had collected my ingredients a mere 2 weeks or so before the mod so I decided to wait and see. But people that finished 1-2 months before me...

I'm still not sold on the GS weapon exchange.

    But, I'd like to see a Paladin 16 + Monk 1 + tasty ham + easy pymt plan = character do-over.

    Thanks in advance,

Is that in their contract? Do they have a contract? Must be the reponsibility clause. If they're going to entertain, I like a good mamba.

    Do-over!
I'm sorry... you talk about taking responsibility, but you give amnesty to the real people making changes. No one asked for a do over simply because they made a bad decision. They're actually asking for a do over because Turbine made a bad decision.

Where's your crusade against Turbine for taking responsibility for the actions they took?

    This is an interesting thread.

I have crafted 2 Tier 3 items and 2 Tier 2 items. I personally chose not to craft a weapon (other than my +++ bow) because quite honestly I was thinking ahead. I had a sense that the Twelve would learn more about new ways to use ingredients and the altars. They said they would find new things out about crafting, VERY CLEARLY.

In the future, I imagine that they may have some deconstructing rituals. Or maybe they won't. It will be interesting to see. Maybe they will discover rituals that change weapons into a new weapon. That may open up options for people if the Twelve learn about these rituals.

I fundamentally disagree with the argument that they HAVE to offer these changes and they have to offer them NOW. The Twelve has not discovered these methods yet, and if they do discover them in the future then so be it. But to have the populace demanding changes as if it is a right, or as if there is some fundamental unfairness that needs to be corrected then I totally disagree.

People crafted, knowing that knowledge of crafting and available rituals were limited. Now new things are being learned.

In real life, you don't DESERVE a FREE TV just because they developed high definition and plasma screens and when you bought your TV 10 years ago it was the best available at the time but didn't have those features. This is a game, and by definition it has lower stakes than real life. You made a game decision, I hope you had fun doing so - "Game conditions may change with individual play" and so forth, over time - so go grind yourself a new weapon.

And if you don't want to, then don't. It's that simple.

    Vallin
