The problem with tracking enemies by their footprints is that they tend to walk in a single file to hide their numbers.

Isn't this a ranger's job? But DDO ranger can't track footprints. That's a Solasta game D&D 5.1e feature!
So rangers in DDO can't tell that footprint belong to a goblin, kobold or ... ogre...
Its just better hiring a bunch of kobolds and using their omnisnifficient techniques.
Kobold not afraid of the dark. Kobold can smell a troll or a dragonfly a mile away!
