Default Fall of Truth Remembrance Raid Friday March 23rd for FlirtyBratt

We would like to run a Fall of Truth raid in memory of FlirtyBratt

Please message me if you would like to come and remember Bratt

    Friday 23rd March
    7pm EST Flagging
9pm EST Fall of Truth raid

We may end up with multiple raid parties - we'll all try to start them all at the same time. Difficulty to be decided by the party.

Bratt who left us at the start of the weekend was a much loved member of the Khyber reaper raiding and reaper questing scene. One half of the BrattyTop raiding experience (see the achievements forum), she could lead a raid with one tenth of the words and directions that Poppy did. She had a reserved laugh in pug parties, a wicked laugh on occasion in Discord, and then there were the times we heard silence as she muted herself and Poppy assured us that she was helpless with laughter.

Her thrower was deadly, and her sneak builds also. She greatly enjoyed many facets of DDO and hanging out with many of us here who amused, distracted, challenged and supported her.

We will miss her. A lot.

If you would like to post stories about times you ran with Bratt and what you remember about her in this thread it would help us say good bye

    Default Count me in...

I love the way she used to greet me. Even during some alcohol filled runs, she would just laugh and keep the quest/raid going. I had a few one liners that would cause her to laugh, and laugh. Even Poppy would laugh. I made it a thing that I would try to say something that would get her howling to the detriment of her toon. Gonna miss you FlirtyBratt. I will always keep you in my heart.

In case anybody wants to know, Mel has my full approval, consent, blessing, encouragement, and just about every other positive thing behind organizing these. I am very glad that she is doing this, I'm too much of a mess right now to do such.

I'll be there to help with the flagging and the raiding tho.

    Miss her dearly.

Ty again Mel. Bratty and I have been blessed with some of the best friends possible on this server.

Hearing about Flirty was really unexpected and distressing. She was such a lovely, kind, calm, patient, fair-minded and sensible person. It's just so rare to meet someone that fundamentally decent and good, and so terrible to lose one.

Apart from that, she was also a very capable endgame player and great fixture of the community as someone who led and taught raids and filled crucial positions in them. Over the years I ran with her, I never saw her treat even one person badly or ever heard anyone speak ill of her either, which says so much given how easy it is to get involved in meaningless squabbles.

Really sad and terrible news, and my heart goes out to those people who were particularly close to her as they try to get through this.

    Thanks.

When Christy (Flirty) was in EOS (Before she joined LD) with me I logged on 1 day to find that she was anon. I asked her why she was anon and now after all these years I can finaly say what her answer was:-

    I'm avoiding Poppy she said

Sorry Poppy but its true and I never told you as it was our secret

I'll be there on Friday (Chakari or Iprin or Jasyra), and maybe Brunah

    _______

We really love playing DDO, and a large part of why is because of the truly kind people who play this game. Christy (mostly Flirtybratt for us) was one of the best, and I have tears in my eyes as I write this.

Her characters were super-good, but she never made you feel like she was better. She would just pick up the slack and make everyone feel like a contributor. The best part is that all of this would be done in the background, while she kept up a friendly (and helpful) chat with everyone.

    We'll really miss her,
    Chakari & Brunah

    Post A few words

Well, after being a forum ghost for so long, I've finally felt compelled to post. But how could I not post if I want to honour Flirty and share a memory or two.

I met Flirty in 2012-13 while flagging toons in the vale. Back before she was an officer of Economy of Scale. Back when she had capped her first toon. Back when she was in a soloist guild, if you could imagine. She ran a palemaster and an assassin back then where being sneaky and playing smartly were key traits.

She started as a soloist because she wanted to improve, build herself up, and learn the game. She would later choose her pugs carefully and tended to shy away from purely random groups, at first. It's quite the contradiction to the powerhouse that she has proven to be, but if you knew her back then, you'd know she'd eventually get there, it was only a matter of time. She loved building for success and proving herself. I don't know if she saw it herself, but she had the ambition and this drive to become an amazing player from the very beginning.

A lot of her toon names scream "Brat" or "You can't make me" because she always claimed that she was the most selfish person she knew, but I've never found this to be true. She enjoyed helping other players, and I can't count the number of times she and Poppy helped salvage what should've been a complete wipe. She loved being self-sufficient, but soloing was never really her style. Back then, groups and raids were a little nerve wracking if you couldn't bring something to the table and it was easy to get burned by a badly led party or raid. But looking back, I can only hint at the excitement and respect she exuded after joining her first patented PoppyTop run.

Poppy, you have my condolences and my heartfelt gratitude and respect for being the other half of the coin.

Mel, thank you for hosting the run. Flirty would burst into bubbles of excitement whenever she recounted the wild times she's had with everyone. She loved the game and she loved the friends she's made here.

When she was in EoS, she used to tease about changing all the guild ship colors to purple before the next time I logged back in. So, from now on and for the foreseeable future, our ship's elemental rings fly purple, even if it does clash with the rest of the ship

Good hunting, Flirty. Wherever you may be, you will be missed... a lot...

    Default Flirty

She was such a sweet soul. I don't know anyone that had a bad thing to say about flirty other than she stole all the kills. So sorry to hear about this and condolences poppy.

    Flirty will be missed.

It is distressing to have such a valued part of our community pass, I heartily agree with the celebration of her time in DDO by participating in the RAID she was famous for. It used to always amaze me how well she knew that raid considering it was always her first time!

Her patience and kindness will be missed by all who have run with her and a loss for all those who will never now have that opportunity.

    Default Sad

I was shocked and greatly saddened to hear about Bratty’s passing.

I remember meeting Bratty about 4-5 years ago, shortly after FoTP came out, and getting to know her along with Poppy though participating in the Brattytop raids. She saved the day in more than 1 raid, allowing us to salvage a win. In fact, I particularly remember being super awed by her during the various attempts/success at the server first elite MOD. She was just so awesome in there, shining like a star, and was right at home among the top notch players in those groups (unlike me who was super intimidated).

Since I didn’t hear Bratty talking much in game initially, I just assumed she was shy... until I heard her on Mumble . Bratty had the best greetings, was always so friendly, generous and kind. She made people feel included and wanted. She was a true and loyal friend - someone who stood up against any injustices she perceived.

I will miss her and my heart goes out to her family and loved ones.

I didn't know Bratty as well as I would have liked to, she started playing the game while I was taking a break and then we just played different time zones for the most part, but she was a Lava Diver and that makes her special to me. I did have the fortune of catching a few BrattyTop flights through DoJ and FoT and it was always an adventure and always fun.

I will be there next week for sure Meli. Thank you for organizing this.

Hang in there Poppy, really sorry man.

I met Bratt and Poppy at the same time and they were always fun to party with. She always gave me encouragement, even when I was on a bad build(my fault), or a good build (usually Poppy's doing). They were always happy when I was able to group with them and we ran groups together all the time that we could. I will miss her voice and words and can hear her now telling me to stop crying and get back in game. So, one last Hi Bratt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and my first Bye Bratt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Love you to my in-game sister

@Meli, I would love to join this on Saaluta, still need to flag madstone and tor on her, but I'll be on all day

Hoping there is live action DDO in Heaven and Bratt is bulding up for when we can join her in a big raid up there

I was sad to hear as well. Calling her Bratty was an oxymoron. I can't think of a bad time while running with her - despite all the drama by other players in our chat channels.

    She earned those wings.

I've also been feeling deeply saddened since hearing this news. She was one the best on Khyber in all senses and with Poppy... and the rest of you in this thread... a big part of persuading me to join the community in more raids, where Bratt would always be relied on to be keeping a cool head, dealing quietly with a tough job, and looking over others at the same time.

It's funny reading all the comments about her laughter - perhaps to my loss I've tended to be too lazy to join the out of game voice channels so to me she was kind of a quiet presence, but even without that I still got the sense of that laughter and playfulness in her approach to quests, which must have numbered in the hundreds together over the years.

One of my memories of a desperate last second rescue was in a Mark of Death raid on whatever was a challenging difficulty at the time and just 4-6 of us in the group. Thanks to some serious lag (perhaps some time just after the server move) things went pretty poorly in the end fight despite everyone's best efforts and cooperation. After the jibbers blades were used and we were on our last legs I found myself accepting a resurrection and then being the last one standing. Desperately burning through spell absorption items I managed to get FlirtyBratt back up and then carried on bouncing around hopelessly waiting for the inevitable end to come. And then... victory as everything went black. She'd managed to take a deep breath, hit whatever boosts were necessary, dodge all the problems flying around, and line everything up for one last and most impressive furyshot on the Abbot.

I'll be there next week with Nistafa for the Fall of Truth.

OK now that I have calmed down bit I can say that Christy was not only someone in game but someone out of game I admired, she would wait for me to log on to run a raid with her and Poppy before going to bed shows how much the feeling was mutial.
Now moving on from that and expecting a lot of applications for the FOT GYPSYS will be running a Shadow Dragon instead as a mark or respect as that was also one of her favourite quests ( I do not mean to step on your toes Mel)

That would be lovely. She did indeed enjoy that raid too. We're anticipating we may end up with 2 FoT groups and that is ok - we'll start them at the same time so we can remember together. FoT was a special raid for Bratt in different ways.
