Game crash after server select

I know I have seen a bunch of threads on this already and have probably read through most pertaining to the last two years, tried just about everything so far, but the game still crashes after I select my server and hit play.

No black screen or anything, it just does the circle by the mouse pointer thing like it is about to load and then nothing.

Already tried the userpreferences trick.

Coincidentally, LoTRO is also giving me problems. That one is stuck on installing pre-reqs.

Wondering if I am having some kind of problem with SSG.

I also am having the same issue. SSG was working on a problem I had where my ingame network icon would go yellow, then red, the disconnect when I went into a new quest, or came out of a quest back to marketplace or where ever. Not all the time but more and more often recently.
They said I should do a clean reinstall of Win10 and then reload DDO. I did that and now I have the same symptoms you have. I select my server and then nothing.
I was running fine after U36 until this network session switching issue started. Now I am just like you.

Did a search in files explorer to see if maybe I had any duplicate files that may be causing an error....then I happened to stumble across this, it was a bunch of DND launcher files.

Tried logging in again and it brought up another file so this one is the most recent

I found that my problem with DDO crashing after I selected the server was because I had not reloaded old versions of DirectX. On a Clean Reinstall of Windows 10, you only have DirectX 12 installed. DDO needs older versions. After looking on the forums I found this link: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...-in-Windows-10

Where I loaded a utility that reinstalled the older DirectX versions. DDO ran perfectly after I ran that utility.

Appreciate the reply....I am running windows 8 still though and I already tried pretty much every workaround there is, including direct x, c++, deleting userpreferences, making sure proxy was disabled in the launcher as well as permanently disabled in regedit and just about everything else mentioned pertaining to this kind of issue aside from a fresh install which I won't bother with until I am going to bed and can let it go at it.

I do know, whether or not it is a coincidence, that this did not happen until right after I tried signing in immediately following my U36 patch 2 update this Wednesday.

I had the same issue with LoTRO after DDO would not sign in, tried to log into that and was stuck on installing pre-req's, deleted userpreference file in my LoTRO folder and it went on to what seemed like download the whole game. Got sick of waiting and just stopped that after 2+ hours of waiting.

About ready to just nuke the computer and reinstall everything, have not seen a windows computer yet that can last more than a couple years without needing a reformat, unless you are a software genius.

I know I have seen a bunch of threads on this already and have probably read through most pertaining to the last two years, tried just about everything so far, but the game still crashes after I select my server and hit play.

No black screen or anything, it just does the circle by the mouse pointer thing like it is about to load and then nothing.

Already tried the userpreferences trick.

Coincidentally, LoTRO is also giving me problems. That one is stuck on installing pre-reqs.

Wondering if I am having some kind of problem with SSG.

Tried something by accident and it worked: one place said to rename the DDO folder in your Documents to Old DDO. But I misunderstood and renamed the DDO folder in Program Files to Old DDO... and it worked. Weird, but it worked. Maybe this could help others too.
