My standard advice to new players running a caster:
If you insist on throwing an AOE before the melees have agro, be prepared to run away when the whole room comes charging your way.

oh and the standard dialogue in faithful departed:
remember please, no summons, no AOEs, no mass heals, hirelings and pets on passive beyond this door.
