I feel like I have to re-equip every character; even much of my raid loot feels useless now.
Am I alone in this?
This is a great patch!
I now want to actually look at my drops instead of instantly vendoring them.
For those butt hurt over having some raid items obsoleted so what?
You play an online progressing game!!!
Loot does not stay the same and remain valid forever.
Well, I had quite a few goodies that were non-standard level before the Feathering, things like level 8 Vorpals, a level 1 single haste clicky..
These got revamped 'retroactively'.. my vorpals became level 14+, the ring became level 9 which was pathetic compared to the 3x haste clicky from cronosphere for level 5.. and stacks of pots usable at any level...
we griped, but were told it was for ' The Greater Good' ... It was a 'fix' to standardize loot effects for all randomgen weapons retroactively and going forward.
Then we had Update 29..
On the weekend while running low level favor...I pulled a level 3 Vorpal that had other effects on it as well.. .. What the f..eathering... this should have been a level 16+ weapon.
My old vorpals pulled during a special event didn't go back to level 8 (or lower), they are still level 14+...
Now I do like seeing good random drop items that may have the rare chance of being as good as a named item, what we are seeing is randmogen drops that blow away named items and no mention of named items getting revamped to be worthy of being named items.
Named items are supposed to have the atypical traits or abilities that make them better for the level they represent, this is what makes them special and desirable to farm/grind/hunt/flag/raid/etc....

Power creep is not the same thing as progression. Progession means you gain power as you progress. Power creep means you gain power via changes to the game by pretty much doing nothing yourself and the balance of mob vs. player power is thrown off to the game's detriment.
Loot does not have to stay the same and remain valid forever. But most named items and raid loot should remain valid at least AT-LEVEL because the pursuit of named items and raid loot is a fundamental core design principle for this game and always has been. And certainly if most of the named items and raid loot in the game are invalidated, a core component of the design of this game that incentivizes play is GONE.

I really don't see the incentive to farm for gear I'm going to soon out-level when it comes to non-end game raid loot. Or even spending an inordinate amount of time re-running leveling content for it. Maybe spending a little extra time in specific at-level content to fill a hole with a piece of named gear here or there. But not to the point of holding off of obsoleting the need until I fill it.
Why?
This is basically what he wanted to do with lootgen for Shadowfell but stopped early on so we only got the ghostbane.
Diablo has been brought up a bit in this thread so I'll go with that. Diablo doesn't really have optional quests like DDO has, you go through Acts in a pretty linear fashion. DDO doesn't have Acts and instead a ton of optional quests, if those quests don't have good loot I'll just skip them. Every* low XP, challenging or low chest count quest now has no reason to ever be ran other than flavour.
*High level, newer loot fares better here since it has a lot of affixes and a lot of those aren't in loot gen.
I still can't believe they (whoever made this call) did this to the loot. I keep hoping that it's some April Fool's joke, but April is far, far away.
Random loot was in a good place right before Ghostbane happened. I wish we could back to that happy place instead of this FUBAR mess DDO is in right now.
You want a good April Fool's joke on loot besides swapping raid and quest loot? Give all the loot no bonuses. That quarterstaff you just pulled out of that chest? Yeah, its just a quarterstaff. What about those goggles you got from that raid chest? They're just goggles, no bonuses, no slots, nothing. All you can do is look like your wearing goggles without them being useful.
Oh wait, that's already happening now...and I was trying to come up with a legit April Fools joke on loot.
Right this.
a) Bug the loot tables. Done. Call it update an push it to live.
b) Break DDO Lore. Done. Now this is Path of Eberroned Online. Deal with it or you are an elitist (sigh).
c) Add more Power Creep. Done. Because those who like to run heroics (best designed quests) need a 2d20000 damage effect to kill a kobold or a troll. They keep adding this but won't update monsters stats. They won't update old lore loot.
So for tonights Titan run.............I'll put you down for ......."Maybe"?
I don't know what to say.
It just feels broken with all the vorpals and good (pure good!!) effects into ml2 items.

we said this would be an issue in the lam thread. Well, here we are. I am having fun staring at the loot lists though.

They ask us to test and then don't listen to the test results.
Community: "Its not ready." = it gets pushed anyway and then is so broken the worlds don't even stay up 2 hours and Turbine acts shocked.
Community: "UMD and other things are dropping in modifiers that are too high." = "We will fix that" = Still broken in the update.
Then consider that what goes live is never (might have been once?) what was last on Lama. There is always (same caveat) something that is added between the last Lama build and the update that is pushed to live. Instead how about:
Put the update on Lama. Leave it there for TWO (2) weekends. If something needs to be changed (even something small) update it and put it back on Lama for TWO weekends. Two weekends won't guarantee its bug free, but it would catch much of what has been grossly broken in the last several updates.
Ridiculous
Did You also farm for http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Assassin%27s_Kiss or http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Epic_Assassin%27s_Kiss?
You nerfed my monks, throwers, dailies and alchemists.
I hardly play anymore, found a better hobby.
Thank You!
