Default How do you think the trainer teaches you the Toughness feat?

The All-American Way. The way everything is done at Turbine.

It's similar to the way the Silver Flame extracts confessions from heretics, but with less nipple clamps and more hot sauce.

Depends on the trainer. Fred, for example, I am pretty sure messes with my brain till I think I am tough.

Thumbs up How do you think the trainer teaches you the Toughness feat?

The Trainer teaches the toughness feat by causing internet connections to be faulty during a holiday weekend.. (and you want to Play DDO)
You have to be patient and wait for Turbine to do what is needed to correct the problem.

You are then granted the toughness feat.

I think you are taught the toughness feat something like this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0cosKhRdbA

(He talks until about 45 seconds in, then it gets good.)
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Trainer: So you want to toughen up, eh?
Adventurer: Yeah, I want people to hit me and not feel it!
Trainer:: You want people to hit you?
Adventurer:: Nooo, stupid! I don't want them to hit me!
Trainer:: You just want them to not feel it...
Adventurer: No, I want me to not feel it!
Trainer: You could try wearing better armor.
Adventurer: I have good armor. I want to be tough!
    Trainer: Life is tough.
    Adventurer: @#!%!
Trainer: Say that again and I'll hit you.

They give you a huge textbook to read on the subject of Toughness. After you've read it, you are tougher. Just like using a constitution tome, and it makes the same amount of sense.

Learning toughness from the trainer isn't pleasant, but judging from the icon it's a lot less painful than heroic durability:

    Depends on the class:

Barbarian: Hits you with their axe until you get tougher.

Fighter: Lectures you on wartime strategy until you get tougher. If that doesn't work, see barbarian method.

Paladin: Lords their righteousness over you until you get tougher. If that doesn't work, see barbarian method.

Ranger: Feeds you a secret blend of herbs and woodland plants to toughen you up. If that doesn't work, see barbarian method.

Druid: Feeds you a better blend of herbs and woodland plants than those slacker rangers. If that doesn't work, turn into a bear, see barbarian method.

Cleric: Magically enhances your health with the blessing of their god. If that doesn't work, grab mace, see barbarian method.

Favored Soul: Magically enhances your health with the blessing of their god. If that doesn't work, grab the blessed and holy weapon of their god, see barbarian method.

Artificer: Gives you a crafted potion that enhances your health. If that doesn't work, sics their iron defender on you, see barbarian method.

Wizard: Cast Tenser's Transformation, see barbarian method.

Sorcerer: Cast Tenser's Transformation, see barbarian method. If the trainer doesn't know Tenser's, apply elemental damage liberally in accordance with the barbarian method.

Rogue: Steals your stuff, tells you to toughen up, stabs you repeatedly - variant of the barbarian method.

Monk: The lessons of enlightened masters will toughen you - these lessons are administered via fist to the face. Thus teaches Master Bar Bah Ree Un.

Default How the Toughness Feat is taught...

It is a little known fact but they have a mini version of the Crucible dungeon located in HOUSE K. It was a Dwarf who first developed this feat and his name was Weeble Wobble. Weeble designed the original gauntlet now known as Crucible for training the typical young clansdwarf when he or she came of age. So successful was the trails and testing that the Giants bought his patent, training equipment etc and moved Crucible to Gianthold. Now there is only the smaller version for those brave enough to take the feat to task. If you make it through you get the feat and a plaque inducting you in as an official "Weeble".

Oh and for those of who have never taken the feat, just so you know, there is a sign at the exit of the training grounds with the official "Weeble" motto.

"Weeble's Wobble but they don't fall down"
