Do you want it just for the rogue past life? If not, I think it makes more sense to be pure or nearly so one way or the other:

-It's moderately difficult to add trapping to a monk with a rogue level, but not prohibitively so, and certainly not to the degree that 11 rogue levels are needed. Monk otherwise loses significant power if you go past 2 levels of splash; in your case, you've lost 1 weapon damage, tier 3 and 4 stances, and 2d6 sneak in exchange for 5d6 sneak.

-A rogue's DPS curve vs. fortification used to get a very compelling adjustment with a monk level: weaker against trash, same to slightly superior against middle fort, and much stronger against 100 fort. With the advent of so much fortification bypass and outright immunity removal via Shadowdancer, it is not as compelling but still very interesting. It is almost certainly the #1 solo option due to Stunning Fist. As with monk, rogue loses significant power if you go beyond 2 levels of splash; in your case, you give up Assassin 2 and 3 and a boatload of sneak for middling stances and Touch of Death, which while strong isn't that strong.

In both cases you've also locked yourself out of the epic feats: Improved Martial Arts and Improved Sneak Attack are the big ones, also Vorpal Strikes.

So I think the question is what you're looking for: a trapping monk, a punching rogue? 50/50 doesn't provide good leverage for either.

For my Monk/Rogue build I'm using the following splits for Past Lives:

    16 Monk / 3 Rogue / 1 Fighter
    15 Rogue / 4 Monk / 1 Fighter
    12 Fighter / 4 Monk / 3 Rogue

I'm doing all Light builds, however, which gives a lot more survivability and flexibility than ToD. My only ToD life I've done was pure.

I'm currently leveling up a 12 Rogue Acrobat 7 Druid Warden 1 monk build, unarmed attack build.

Acrobat for the knockdown immunity and higher saves, 7 Druid for the obvious fatal Harrier and I can have maximized Cure Serious Wounds, and the 1 monk because of the obvious. I'm taking stunning fists, and should be able to pull off a mid 50's dc on it regardless of the destiny I'm in.

Basically, a reverse of Tygara's Storm of a Thousand Fists build.

I like the 19 rogue / 1 monk split. You minimize your sneak attack lost while still getting punch speed.

I haven't played enough with druid to know one way or the other whether the 7 splash makes sense, but it certainly has a lot of tantalizing bits.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, what about monk 12 / rog 8? Monk 12 gets you 3rd-tier stances, NS II, and access to monk-only epic feats (Imp Martial Arts and Vorpal Strikes); rog 8 gets you 4d6+9 sneak atk (+1D6 if Assassin I), lots of skill pts, Imp Uncanny Dodge, W&S Mastery III. I did a DMed elf along those lines here, but it should work as well with a non-gimp race too.
