So talking 21 damage/hit from this suffix on a rapier/scimitar? That's more than double what lightning strike gives and 6.5 more than greater bane, in fact it's right around what banishing gives.

    So, photoshop?

No; the suffix does significantly more damage on a rapier than on a heavy pick.

Uh, I'd probably go a rogue, might as well be pure, moderate str/dex/con, level ups in intelligence. I guess for pure DPS maybe Kensei II/Tempest I.

Looks like a 20 d6/d8/d10 version of maiming on crack. This type of thing going to be confined to generating on light (or even just piercing) weapons to bump them up in utility, or do we have another khopesh mutation?

edit: transposed the dice there for a sec.

If this is only on light weapons (shortswords, for example), that could be a quite nice buff to some of the not-as-good weapons. If this is on all weapons, there's now a new best suffix for most cases.
Pestilence: Wruntjunior ~ Dragonborn Fire Sorc (finished completionist project) // Wruntarrow ~ HW Archer // Youngwrunt ~ SWF SDK Bardbarian // Wruntstaff ~ Stick Melee (current tr project)

    I don't like it.
Making a single enhancement better than the rest by such a large margin is a textbook example of a bad balance design.
At least it's not a named item.

I wonder if this can be found on ranged weapons.

    And This ^

The OP has found a Short Sword yes BUT maybe this is the devs finally having a go at making Ranged dmg useful outside Manyshot/Fusillade.

Though perhaps it should NOT be allowed on Repeaters!

    erm what?
Have you not seen the new random loot suffixes available in U14 and 15?
This ones barely on par, not really better at all.

It's an average of 14 dmg per swing, if you have IC. Plus as straight piercing dmg, its most likely subject to DR without any way to bypass non-pierce DR.
    vs
Phlebotomizing - 13.5 dmg per swing, no feats required. (As bleed dmg, it ignores all DR, tho doesnt work on some undead/construct)

I'd hardly call .5 dmg "a large margin".

    or vs
A thousand suns - harder to calc but averages easily in the 15-19 dmg a swing, plus it can blind and is mostly AOE.

If you could get it a scimitar, it would be nicer. But it could well be piercing only. Either way its not taht exciting, random loot is still vastly inferior to named. It's definetely not even in the same league as drow weapon, epic antique, esos or citw raid wep, etc.

On a rapier or kukri it's 21 damage/hit which is a significant step up, only banishing/disruption/smiting compete with it afaik.
