    Default Preliminary feedback

    Okay one hour in.

The transistions between actions on Lamannia are a lot smoother than in live. For example on live if your character is running and jumps about 50% there is a noticible little hitch, I would say that transistion on Lammania is under 5% of the time now.

I have run into a number of invisible objects on Lamannia with my characters, usually in place where objects would be if the event they are there for a live. (The dude in the harbor who teleports you to Smuggler's Rest for example)

Mob Spawns appear to be faster and smoother, in part 1 of the Shroud the spawns from the portals just seemed to be a lot faster than on live. It's like once the server decides it starts teh process where we get little hints it is going to happen on live now.

I saw fewer attacks lost to the bit bucket. I saw a grand total of 2 missed attack (where you do the animiation and nothing happens) in the first hour. On live I swear it can be once per mob.

I didn't lose anywhere near the number of magic attacks with my spell caster as I normally do. Still a few went into the bit bucket but not one in four or five that I am used to.

A large number of textures must have been rerendered. Seams have moved on a number of armor clothing.

Everything is looking much smoother. I had some strange acceleration issues going up the steps to the upper level of the Phiarlan enclave, but they didn't repeat, so it may have been local lag.

I also found a miniquest in the IQ which made use of my FvS religious lore knowledge. Extremely cool.

Where did you find the miniquest? I'm probably just overlooking it.

As far as performance, I have noticed that when you are swimming and you jump, the animation is much smoother. The FvS wings transition a lot better. Still got a ladder to bug out. Still got item swap lag.

    Overall quite impressed so far

If you teleport in, there's a mother and father arguing with one of the Inspired about their daughter's conversion to the Path of Inspiraton nearby. If you engage him in conversation, I got [Sovereign Host] dialog options like you would bluff or diplomacy. I got 100xp for convincing him to make sure the couple's daughter would not be harmed by any of the Inspired.

The mini quest is on live as well just to let you know.

I logged in first with my Cleric (RS). I went thru Lord's of Dust and didn't really notice anything different until the final fight. On the plus side the skeletons were not being healed by my aura (yeaaa), and seemed to be taking damage from it (double-yeaaa), so I hit a Mass, Heal but they didn't all drop and I didn't see any big numbers so it is possible that doesn't work for them. I also could not tell if the death knights were being harmed by my aura, it did not appear that they were.

There was one treasure bag on the ground after the fight, I'm pretty sure it was dropped by the skellies and I could not pick it up.

Next I decided to change to my monk to go look at the giant's vault.

Overall it seems like I had more control over my jumps, seemed a little more responsive and when I bounced of the walls they didn't seem to bounce me like they were made out of superball material. There were still a couple spots that bounced me off annoyingly but not as bad as in the past. Also, it seems like the 'grab and hang' has a slightly increased range, as I was grabbing slightly easier in there.

Now, the big strange thing that happened:

About half-way up one of the wall paths while I was whooping on some animated armor my screen went black (not blinded, but basically the same 'effect'). UI was still there and I could still apparently move around because my arrow on the mini-map responded to my movements. I don't know if I had already killed the animated armor or not because no numbers or anything were showing up. I figured it was an error with the client so I quit out of the client and went back into it.

Logged back on, and picked the same character. Figured I'd be in the Giant's Vault and I could continue on my way.

Nope. Was on the Airship "Heart of the Wind", with a blinking checkmark on the guy you 'tell your story to' in order to level when doing a reincarnation or veteran character. So I went over to him and talked to him. He gave the line about enjoying the story and the response I had was to go talk to the captain. Went to the captain and talked to him, told him it was okay to 'take her in'. Ended up in the marketplace, no 'over the head' thing on anyone to talk to about equipment (and I had everything on me fine).

    It was Very Strange™.

So I went back to the Giant's Vault and finished it (new instance, it all took me more than 5 minutes, especially since I got sidetracked by being tempted to hit STK to grab the Seal to trade in to 404 for some greensteel, but then why bother for a Lammy character?

On the way to the vault I swung by were the guy that would send you to Smuggler's Rest normally is in order to see if there was invisible geometry there that I might run into, and I found none.

I then switched to the normal client to do some leveling on live.

    Default Korthos Quest menu

I like the idea of the *chain menu* that is in Korthos directing you to what quests need to be done. What about one for all of the chains or for flagging quests?

*Wall Crawlers* or NPCs that can jump up on the walls out of reach are still occurring.

    Overall, looks good.

You can bug that by doing another quest and going back to that quest. Sometimes, it just makes it more complicated (buggy) to add more things.

Personally, I think it should go into the hint area.

Also, there used to be story arcs on the forums that devs put together. I think they need to consider doing that again, but put it into another chat box (Dungeon Master Chat), so all of the conversations can be read as you go along in quests. I think that would help the role playing community.
Oh, that's easy. I didn't farm them. I just cheated. -Meghan

I happened to get stuck in the crafting hall in House K. I was getting the message that the door was blocked and couldn't get out no matter where I clicked. A quick /death got me out though.

I've got a bugged rat from the store too. It is invisible and don't accept tricks or gear (that i also just got from the store).

The "top hat" and "green fog for pets" is not working for the cranium rat or kobolt shaman (this one appears normally and accepts "tricks", but not "gear")

Also, if you leave korthos before doing "misery peak" and come back to complete the quest line, you can't "tick" the last task (talk to the guy to go to stormreach)... not a big deal...

btw, The korthos newbie task list should be in "bold" like all others in the game?

I have seen this issue live ALOT. It also happens to me when talking to the lv 20 Hireling vendor in the market, he AH in several places, getting aboard ship and a few other transitions I cant think of off the top of my head. Using the target window bypasses the problem.

Noticed this yesterday : Feather Fall appears to me to be a little bit faster.
My character had boots equipped which had granted him permanent feather fall.
Then he jumped from the highest point on the marketplace.
It felt a little bit faster, to fall from there, than I was used to it.

On my FvS I used to jump off a high place and take a few HP damage Now I jump off the same places and 0 damage. All that has changed is 2 levels and a couple different pieces of gear. But nothing that should cause me to get no Damage at all...

I would agree everything seems a bit smoother. Hopefully that is due to the upgrade(s) and not low server population.

Repeaters seem to be losing very few shots (better tracking?) which is especially noticeable in Challenges.

Also, my iron defender seems to be having an easier time attacking.

I still experience significant UMD swap lag. It isn't as bad as I experience it on live, but still significant enough to become an issue if server population is restored to that of live.

I wish that the effects applied to your character can be smoothened somehow. Its terribly detrimental in practice to have to glitch through everytime you want to swap an item.

maybe disabling the spell graphic effects that are played each time you swap item would fix it, from what i notice they play with delay, similar delay in playing those effects happens on buff barrage in raids,

maybe it would be possible to disable graphic effects on items on lammania to try it without them, its not like they are needed.

also i noticed similar thing about abbot, he plays that graphic "dust" effect when he is being hit by melees, the less melees hits him the less lag there is, i think he plays that effect for each one hit he recieves, so if that would be 10 melees beating on him it would mean that there is 10 effects playing each hit.

Everything's much smoother, except said swap lag. <happy dance> I also ran around the vale a bit tripping/paralyzing some ogres, didn't have problems with them scooting around on their back while held. Wondering if the new physics engine finally fixed this, or I just got some really lethargic mobs
