    Default Events & Challenges

    Enough already!

We all like diversity in the game. And it needs it.

    BUT...

Make new content like we got in U 11.

Expand existing story lines with new content.

You people (Turbine) are far more capable of achieving this than what you've shown us! You've proven that.

Infusing THIS game w/ concepts from other games isnt being real creative! (sorry not meant as bad as it sounds).

    * I can think of over 30 sanctioned modules (3.5) from WOTC that would be awesome to have in this game*

Don't worry! Challenges aren't replacing our traditional content, they are simply there to add an additional type of gameplay that wasn't present before. While we were working on Challenges, there were some of us working on the next batch of dungeons as well. We haven't forgotten story-based quests!

Personally, in DDO I prefer challenges compared to that "go get me 20 shamen spell pouches" stuff that was in game for a short time. That was a real pain in the rear.

Another thing I've loved, but near hear anyone state. Unlimited quest gathering.

Thanks, I read the round table interview. And, I understand this being a "Litmus Test" for player reaction in the game plan.

My thread is NOT a flame.

I'm (obviously) not going to be a mamby-pamby yes man to this issue & another (loot table & crafting), and I will strive to find ways of opining my thoughts that best relate my concerns.

Maybe we can have a dedicated server for these types of things?

Why would you need Challenges to go on a dedicated server? In what way would that improve your play experience over simply not playing Challenges?

I would of gone with a release 1 or 2 challenges(but not part of the story-line) along side of dungeons , and not a all challenge update.

Also it would be nice to see some cosmetic items and guild amenities instead of the, weapons, jewelry and armor.

You sir have been playing Lotro too much. Get back to DDO the Dragons in TOR Miss you.

The challenges are fine. They are an alternate source of xp (which is always nice), they can be entertaining with the right group. I've had a blast playing with all guild groups, where we can kind of goof off, at least get one star and accomplish something.

They are not everyones cup of tea and that's fine. You don't have to like all the content in the game.

Well, that's definitely not the impression that several of us got. There's been alot of crowing about the Challenges for about a year and how it's going to "revolutionize" the MMO scene.

Personally, I think this last update was handled badly (not surprising after the way the Artificer was handled though). An update with nothing but Challenges was a horrible idea, especially when 2 of the 4 challenges are a copy of Cove. There's just so many things wrong with the pack, from the price to being unbalanced to the pitch that it's more than 3 quests on 4 maps with multiple variations.

The Challenges should have been additional side quests for packs. Heck, to test the temperature of the Challenges, you could have added them to some of the low selling or rarely ran packs, for example Restless Isles and Threnal (although personally, I'd like to see the chain-quest packs get an additional epilogue quest with Epic difficulty).

Challenges should be a new addition to the game, but just not the way it was handled this update.

I'm still sick of Cove, I don't want to play something like cove only with more limited loot!

Do you really expect new quests every update? It's never been that way and never will be.

Adn the challenges are a lot of fun in a game that usually just consists of following a wizard while he kills everything then autoattacking a boss.

At least in cove you could set a torch path and the kobolds would go along that path looking for crystals.

In the challenges, they might 'see' one half way accross the map and decide they really want that one.

    "A Kobold Worker has died"

"What the? We have cleared the path"

Sorry, but if you only have X developers to work on Y projects and Z bugs, you now have even less X working on Y and Z since you are now doing D- (nerfing content) and F- (challenges).

It isn't like you got a bunch of people working for free on challenges and no time is taken away from the Development, QA, and (mis-)management teams.

Personally, my big problem with the challenges is the absurd way the item pricing is structured, it actively seems to discourage grouping.

Do we really need 25 different types of currency for these items? Really? And all of the currencies BTC? Really? Kobold remember Crafting Beta!

"Gee, I really want this item for my Cleric, but Clerics are pretty useless in Challenge X and the group wants a CC caster (hypothetical example). But since Challenge X is the only place I can get the Strawberry Sprinkles for my item, and I cannot transfer the Sprinkles, it does nothing except waste my time to do the challenge on another alt. Oh well, guess I'll have more time to try SWTOR."

Oh...yes...and I will admit that it does not help that buggy torch pathing renders one of the mapsets totally unplayable, and another mapset extremely annoying.

I was one of those players that was running CC solo and doing well. The new "challenges" that I have run so far are rediculous.

    1) Buy things from the store to help you succeed(pay to win)
    2) Kobalds are more squishy then a drow wizzy
    3) Kobalds are worse at following a straight line the I am after a 3day bender

I actually saw one drop off his crystals and go the opposite way from the torches, ***?
The rewards seem really nice, but I'm not wasting my time with these quests though.
I'm vip because I don't want to have to pay to play content. It seems to me that even with free content, they want me to pay to win.
