Well, Turbine is in EST (EDT) and so are their servers, so you can forgive people just using that as a standard.
In the military, it was always Zulu time which I got used to - aka GMT, Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
Let me get this straight:
Right now, they just post their time (and zone) then you just convert to yours.
Now, you want them to convert to another zone (GMT) and then you have to convert back to yours?
I think it is easier to just ask everyone to post their offset with the time (which they should know) and whomever is interested should just do the math... Or is this from the same crowd who can't figure out what a D6 meant and have to know it is 1-6.
Well asking all Americans to use GMT is like asking them all to use the metric system. In other words, ain't happening! I can't even get my non-military friends to figure out how to convert to military time.
Having played with many Aussies in other games I have nothing against ya'll. Just pointing out our typical hard-headness.
... a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation,
Even in the dragon's mouth.
I do like the metric system .. 'debate'. Two of my favourite links:

ON TOPIC: I guess it's unreasonable to request UTC (GMT) times for the masses. I shall keep that in mind..
*peeks in*
*realizes that he is too much of an idiot to tell time despite having lived in several different countries around the globe*
*is thankful that his computer is set properly to his own local time and that he has internet access to do quick, painless time conversions if necessary*
*goes back to drinking his morning coffee whilst ruminating on the destruction he is going to cause Khyber later tonight*
*chokes a bit on coffee when he realizes he'll likely cause no destruction and that his soulstone will be carted to and fro by giggling guildies*
Exactly. Because asking him to learn EST/PST is the same as him asking us to learn AWST/AEST.
Instead, he's asking us all to use the same universally recognized notation for time zones in order to make things easier on everyone. Which doesn't strike me as unreasonable in the least.
I would also like to point out that Greenwich, England is currently on GMT +1. :P
The failboat a lot of people sail in is equating GMT with the time in Britain, which is only true about half the year.
