What does 1d6 mean? Is that like a number between 1 and 6 randomly generated? Can you please simplify it and make it more accessible to non D&D players? Maybe give me a number range that I can understand. I'd hate to see someone driven away because they don't understand how numbers work New players are the lifeblood of this game!!

Actually, I have one and it's just a slight bit larger than a golfball...in fact, looks and feels like one too. I really never use it in game, since it almost never stops rolling till it's off the table.

I actually had a second one, too, that broke open. The odd thing is, they typically have plastic beads inside, I assume to lessen the momentum of the die so that it WILL stop rolling eventually.

1d3, 1d4, 1d5, 1d7, ect are easy. They are rolled with 2 dimensional dice in the shape of a triangle, a square, a pentagon, a septagon, ect..

    silly people.

The fact that one or two sides are shaped differently would cause the die to roll/fall differently, and possibly skew to a particular side, while the sides with more surface area and/or a more stable center of gravity would be more likely to come up, therefore making them invalid.

Also, in previous link, the D30 is valid and the D100 COULD be valid, assuming that the pits are 100% equidistant and all the same size.
I'll let you take the argument up with Lou Zocchi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Zocchi).

I brought up the GameScience d100 in a discussion on the HackMaster forum a few years ago. Someone responded and called it "That spherical abomination of Lou Zocchi's."

    Default Seriously guys.

A 1d2 is a 1d4 with just the numbers 1 and 2 repeated twice. A 1d3 is a 1d6 with the numbers 1-3 repeated twice. At least that is how it worked last time I played.

And yep they make 7 sided dice. I have never needed one though!

Ah but you could with a D10 or D14 :P

Same as you use a D6 to generate a D3.

/nah nah :P Now pass me your raid loot....or we will have DRAMA!!!!!!

    Easy if you're a cartoon maybe. :P

Bluck. Not on my DM table.

I once had a player who used a d100. I hated that thing. Among other things it was a bit too rolley. Two d10's worked fine for me. I'm a purist I guess. Or maybe just stuck in my ways.

+1 for not only giving us a good laugh about a terrible change, but also for getting a Dev's attention, and getting him to rep you.

PS. I would have given you a +3 but, I can't do that.
