As for the build, most builds are posted at level 20 so we can see what you're going for. Anyway, currently Rngr6/Ftr12/{Rog or Monk}2 is a common build. Come update 5, that build loses quite a bit.

Post update 5, Rngr18 looks more promising to me than Ftr6/Rngr12 or Ftr12/Rngr6, but I could be mistaken.

The best advice i can think of...

Roll what you will enjoy and do not worry about the numbers. If you stress all the +1s and Turbine decides to alter them you will end up like the rest of us... A Character sheet full of disapointments...

According to Khyberians, it's always appropriate to post all topics in the Khyber forums. We have several members who *only* post in the Khyber forums.

    It's safer that way

Consider the proposed U5 nerfs in that character build.....I think these are the exact kinds of builds they are trying to effect the most.

I have a similar build exception being 32pt./more dex based and elven + weapons finesse/rapiers & light picks.

He didnt even take the tempest line until the level cap increase to 20.
    Very strong character indeed.
Fun to play and extremely self sufficient.
Tempest + fighter haste boost + haste was amazing (*sob* @ U5! fingers crossed)
As is haste boost + abbot quiver + haste + manyshot (ponders same build TR -> AA! 0.o)

Bottom line is, the character doesnt matter as much as the playstyle.
Play what you enjoy and the rest will fall into place.
Know your characters strengths and weaknesses and use them accordingly.
I would suggest getting 32 pt build unless you plan a TR.
My problem is, I don't know why I would TR mine except to add more str or con.
Honestly I dont see any reason for that grind for such minimal gains.

The min/max always gets the nerf and always ends up crying.
    Don't be one of those!

Hey Slinky...where ya been? ...about this tho.....
isn't that what most pure builds are? Seems it's what works the best.

I've seen the multiclass syndrome take shape since the very first 'batman' builds.
Turbine always finds a way to bring the pain, no matter what the flavor of the month is.
PrE and capstones were only the start for pure class characters to finally have an advantage in some aspects.
Even Tower sets point this direction.
I expect we will see more of this as time goes on and monster builds go the way of the batman (i.e. dodo).

I still have what was considered a 'batman' build and even though he is nowhere near any of my other characters (or anything like he once was), he is still feasible and situationally a huge asset to groups.

Fair DPS, minor lockpick/trapping skills, low 40s UMD (no fail rez/heal/mcm/recon!)
If I shroud crafted a few items for him, he would be exceptional.

The problem isn't being less than the best.
The problem is people wanting the next big thing or feeling insulted when you're no longer the 'highest DPS'.
As players continue to find loopholes in character builds that borderline on exploits, Tubine will continue to seek balance.
It has always been that way.

The 12 ftr/6rngr/2(rogue or monk) is very fun. I play one. Just TR'd it. (Mainly because I screwed up the order I took the levels in and the skills allocation). Very fun. The U5 changes will affect all twf builds, which this one is.

The question comes down to: is the Kensai Strength surge at Kensai II better than the Tempest II additonal attack. I think the strength surge is worth it and still will be in U5. As far as 18 ftr vs. 12/6, the question is do you like Kensai III and 3 feats or TWF, ITWF, Diehard, Bow strength, 2 favored enemies, 2 dex point enhancements, and 10 melee aclarity (even the new version). I still like the 12/6 split for a TWF build.
