    Default pay 2 not play

Does anyone here think it's a good idea to pay a stranger real money to lvl thier character for them?

I'm asking because I saw an add for it in the marketplace general-chat and couldn't help thinking "How lucritive can it be?" and "How could anyone convince me to invest into that sort of thing when that's most of the game?"

On the other hand this is could be another mmo trend I don't understand like the arena in the wayward lobster.

I think it utterly defeats the purpose of the game. And, I hope, you reported the offender on basic principle...

also is this not against the game EULA or something along those lines, great way to allow someone to hack and steal everything on your account is to give them access to "level" you up. come back with 20 level toon with no gear and changed pw.

so what you're asking is essentially this:
Is it a good idea to pay subscription for a stranger to play the game? o_O|||
PS: Greensteel RUINED the game! and you all know it!
    less buffing, more nerfing!!!
to make it easier for those of you that wants to avoid me in game, all my characters are in "Bladesworn Mercenaries"

The sheer risk involved in this removes any temptation at all for this. If it's your first character, not so bad, just change your password after the deal is done. Otherwise, expect all your other characters to be stripped clean of anything of value when you get your account back from them.

Yes, this has been happening in MMOs for quite awhile (leveling services) and is against the EULA.

I would guess the same people who complain they don't have enough time to play the game and wanted everything in the store so they can just buy their way up would pay someone to play for them.

I am probably in the minority here, but I have no problem at all paying to avoid anything I consider to be "grind". Someone else mentioned that paying someone to level your character defeats the purpose of the game. I disagree completely. Paying something to do something you consider FUN defeats the purpose of the game. If the point of the game to you is to run around at level 20, then paying someone to get you there does not defeat the purpose, it empowers you to enjoy the purpose of the game.

Some parts of this game are simply not fun. Paying to avoid those parts is great.

Note - I have yet to pay anyone (other than Turbine, am I right?) to do anything for me in this game.

It's popular in other MMOs where the entire game is endgame. It makes no sense here. Also if you are caught your account will be permabanned.

    After this deal is done...

What quests do you plan to run with this toon?

Default This one time, in band camp...

While I was playing another MMO that begins with a W... *cough* I ran into this newb. I was working on my 5th lv 80 at the time and was at about lv 30'ish. I was taking the time to help plan his tree for the toon he was playing and explaining some of the ins and out of the game. He thanked me for my time and asked about my MMO career. I had been playing 2+ years at the time and telling him I had 4 lv 80's. He asked about time invested into them and was honest in saying the first one took me nearly 5-6 months to do as I had to learn the game. Then I told him I wanted to see how fast I could lv up and told him it took me 11 days to go from lv 1-80 on my last toon (which isn't THAT great since I've seen people do it in 6-7). He politely asked me how I did it and admited I had 2 comps and used my brother's account while he was at work to power level him faster. He then asked me, "if I pay you, can you power level me up to 80 while I'm at school? I'll pay you $100." I joked at him and said, "well, you know I'll have access to all your toons and password and gold." He said he didn't care. I told him that he just met me, how can he trust me with his password? It didn't seem to bug him at all.

I declined in the end of course, but was a bit amazed someone was so willing to give a complete stranger their account password. What really worries me is that I took the time to learn the game and to play my toons. I made several different toons to learn their strengths and weaknesses. What also worries me is I remember this one player I friended. He was an awesome player and knew how to play his toon and the game well. Then one day I see him online and invite him into a raid. I was dumbstruck when I watched him do SEVERAL noob blunders and party wipes. I found out later that the 1 account was shared by 2 brothers. An older one who was really skilled and the younger that couldn't run straight if he sat on his hands and hit the "R" key.

I guess I don't understand the frustration that comes from being a lv 1 newb. Yeah, there's hundreds if not thousands of fights along the way to lv 20. However, I know what my toon does, I max his strengths while I work hard to polish his weaknesses. I know how it works, what works best, and show what skills I have to other players. With pugging (which I enjoy doing from time to time), I like to make new friends and gain a reputation with new people. So, when I'm bored and looking for something to do, it's my toon's name that people remember. Even if they're looking for a "tank" fighter, barb, or pally in the LGM, they know my bard is a scary, if not more so, then other tanks on the block. They also know that we can 3 man a lv 18 dungeon cause by knowing my toon, we can take a bard and 2 non-WF casters in and kill everything with min resources.

I guess it scares me then if I was to work on someone else's toon and make a lv 20 that everyone wants to play with, that the original person takes over and fails, fails, fails. He might not understand the keybindings I set up or how they work together. He might not understand that you can't just go up to the mob, sit there, and pound on the attack button until either he or the mob stops moving. I've seen those "W" MMO accounts being sold on eBay for 100's of dollars with a toon at lv cap. So, there is a supply and demand for that on certain games. But, who really wants to do a difficult dungeon where the person has a great geared toon, but can't get past the basics in gameplay? Thus, my fav statement of "skill > gear".

    In WoW. . .

My Guild leader's older brother was the first person on the server to get his character ranked no. 1 in pvp and therefore had the initial access to all the overpowered gear that the Warmasters could provide him. He sold his account for several thousand dollars. I can be sympathetic to this approach while having utter contempt for whoever it was who bought his account.

this is a great idea and I would do it for you for free.

Of course to level your character I would need your username and password.

Dont worry, I wont take any of your characters stuff or your credit card/personal information and I definetly wont deleted all of your characters after Im done pilaging...I mean "leveling" them all.

Of course if you wanna pay me to do all that it would be great...... no pressure tho.

    This has been a P.S.A.
