Ugh... just got out of another group. If one more genius tells me to stop moving around while they chase in circles missing and getting non-registering hits I'm going to reach through the internet and slap them across the face.
Look people. This is not complicated.
GUY TRYING TO AVOID DAMAGE = MOVING / CIRCLING OTHERS
Protip: You don't get hit for any more damage!
GUY TRYING TO HIT STUFF = STANDING STILL SWINGING
Protip: Your swings register for damage more often!
No I'm not talking -4 to-hit rolls, I'm talking actually being able to hit at all.
This guy actually told me over and over again, with no answer to the above at all. He just read it.. and then... like a record that had skipped and resumed... told me to stand still and die again five minutes later instead of standing still.
"The next day i got ANOTHER group together to do STK and Helm's, this time on Elite"
Reading comprehension for the win . Hefty read a little closer next time . Sorry you haven't had the best of luck with groups. There are some good people out there just takes a bit to find them and welcome to DDO
Select one of the fabulous signatures from the list of your characters below!
You have no characters
There is sense in them asking you to stop running around.
- If they can hit the monster and get its aggro, it will stop attacking you and the group can kill it faster.
I personally refuse to chase monsters but I will pull a bow and range it if the situation allows.
Best thing you can do when running is to run through your DPS guys so the monster will take that path as well or run him into some crowd control. Running in circles is like running in circles and you know wher that gets you.

Ok, i am a classic Zerger, i do not like sitting around in quests that slow me down, at all. If i know the quest, i will take all fo the short cuts, run by countless mobs, or kill them all at once at the same time if i can.
If i cannot i do the right things and take it easy, often falling asleep at my keyboard if it gets to boring for me.
However, i never just leave those that i hate, or depsise for their annoyances, or especially newbs in the total dust to fend for them selves, i help them out, and try not to group with them again until they are more advanced in their play style, it just takes time.
Look calling the OP names is not helpful, grow the hell up, the guy needed to vent and the forums are the place to do it, it is not like he had a doom post, those guys i am all for calling crybabies, i nearly got banned for doing it myself. However, noobs venting about a terrible experience have every right to be heard and concoled, while not being insulted for it.
Phantomizer, from now post in your LFM, no zerging, that you are new, etc... and you are likely to have better experiences, if you want help PM me, and i will come to your aid, and then leave quickly.
Peace to you, hope to see you in VoD or Shroud run soon.

I didn't say it was to help new players. I didn't bother implying anything, but I'd imagine that a big part of the reason for DA is that the devs have some issues with players avoiding 3/4 of the challenge of most dungeons and were seeking a way to cut down on that, restoring some of the challenge of most quests.

If they are chasing the monster, the monster is not stationary....... nor is the player he is aggroed on.
Based on the situation you described this is not what was happening.
My advice to run through your DPS guys or through some crowd control as oppossed to running in circles is still valid. Noone likes to chase after people to kill whats hounding them........ make it eay for people to help you....... or do whatever you want, Im not the one paying your sub.

Playing a ranged character is fun on Argo...
Are people really that stupid that they don't understand 'Stand still, swing, and I will kite mobs past you'?
Or the party that can't handle all 12 mobs on them. I pull 2-3 mobs off, and the melees chase these guys, with 9-10 mobs chasing them cutting them new arseholes..... /facepalm.
OP: This game is rife with people that will selectively ignore voice chat and tells from everyone in group and continue to do whatever they please. These people make grouping not fun for newbs and vets alike - hang in there, by lvl10-12 most of these players are way out of their league, reroll and spend their time annoying anyone in the marketplace willing to take them in group.

Yes. Read captain1z, and Suppoko.
I'm sure they're nice guys and all. Probably have helped their share of noobs, but they're not getting their heads around an extremely simple situation. This is typical on Thelanis, in my experience. Granted I've been playing low levels lately, but I get the same results from people who know the quests in and out, have pimp gear, and are in major guilds. Regardless of if it happens in the shroud or in the waterworks, it still happened with people who should be playing above that level.
HaHa. Too true. The thing about throwing something out that can hit everyone is that it almost certainly will.
Have they really concidered what all these things will do when working together.
like a guy soloing tangleroot, who runs all the mobs to the traps, gets red skull just when he gets there, kills a few in the process, goes back to green, kills off everything............. and then invites the rest of his group that was waiting in the bugbear to loot and complete.
It could happen.
