And for those saying why complain about free stuff maybe because some of us are getting absolutely nothing but a minute xp buff for paying $100's probably $1000's to the company.

I'm thinking maybe extend the season pass for a year and give season pass holders the next expansion free as there were only 1000 season passes given out.

The coupon code will only give current adventure packs to all, so put all vip and seasons pass membership time limits on hold until the next adventure pack comes out then start their timers again. This isnt fair to those who paid for the next 3 mths-3 yrs already. Or keep em running but add however much time there is from April 1st till the next adventure pk comes out.

Every month Playstation gives 2-3 games away for free if you have playstation plus. If a game is given away that I bought 3 years ago I don't mind. More people to play call of duty with. Do you guys get ****ed when places donate food and stuff too? Because you paid for yours everyone else has to?

Ravenloft and Sharn are the newest expansions, You can't expect them to give it for free, the 198 points is an afternoon farming or just to get to 50 favor on two servers (for new players). This is still very generous. And everything but paywall.
What I don't understand why people are not happy about the free stuff which is ALL adventure packs = lot of free points, a way to level to 20, to do heroic reincarnations (class or race). Before the free access a new player had trouble to level up to 20 for free. Now anybody can do it. FOR FREE. What else they want? A paid trip to Las Vegas?

I never said anything about Ravenloft and Sharn. The first two expansion packs I referred to are Menace of the Underdark and The Shadowfell Conspiracy.

As for why people are complaining about getting something for free? Probably because they feel others getting something for free that they paid for means they got cheated. And honestly, I can understand that view. I don't usually bother with VIP since I already own all expansions (collectors or Ultimate Fan editions of each one) and all Adventure Packs except The Lost Gatekeepers on my main account. As such, the code will only give my main account one single adventure pack. It'll be more useful for my 2nd account, allowing me to stop the 100 favor then delete grind and just level up a character enough that I can finally complete a couple Necropolis quests that require an actual 2nd player that nobody is willing to join me to complete.

By the way, I'm premium, hubby and I have purchased everything up to this most recent adventure pack x2 including expansions, our son's account has most everything except the most recent expansion and a handful of packs and our daughter has 2 expacks and a handful of adventures and I do NOT feel slighted in the least. I feel grateful that people that I otherwise would not get to group with have access and can all group up for adventure.

This is a great opportunity to grow the player base and I'm pleased as punch SSG is doing so.

Instead of complaining about everyone having access to something you already paid for... invite friends, family, and people that might never have given DDO a try before to join in the fun.

So it's kind of appalling to see all the anger at SSG giving access to "free" stuff that they own.

First, this likely makes SSG account maintenance that much easier.

Second, getting upset about paying for something virtual which eventually wasn't worth what you originally paid... is laughable. Why else do gamers pay for new games, sight unseen?

Third, it's not like this game is brand spankin' new. I think it's an excellent way to encourage continuing players from f2p, like myself. I've probably sunk almost $200 into this "free" game.

About the only worthwhile gripe I saw is that some people paid for VIP just as our supposedly world-ending epidemic hit. Fact is that SSG didn't need to do any of this, and many other companies are clawing at their customers at this point.

I suppose a prize of 5 months extra VIP to those people who'd paid for VIP would raise the bar from "extremely good customer relations" to "the most astoundingly smart customer relations I've ever seen in my life", but bear in mind that what they've already given us is NOT really VIP; it's just improved content access. What Premium types like me get out of this still isn't VIP, it's just access to packs we'd have to have been hoarding points and timing discounts towards acquiring.

Heck, not that I want to poke the bear, but if getting the coupon required paying VIP, I'd be fine with it. Small price to pay for a heck of a lot better quality than most (far more pricey) modern games.

Some people obviously can't grasp the concept something is worth only as much as someone else is willing to pay for it.

I love it. I already have the content (and VIP active) but it'll be even more reason to try and get some of my friends who've been on the fence to create accounts and log in. When putting together pugs, not having to worry about what packs people I'm grouped with do or don't own is currently nice and it'll be great that I won't have to go back to groups where someone chimes in "I don't have that pack" when running around.

VIP will still be worth it for all the other benefits: DDO points, gold rolls, races, classes, XP boosts, character slots, bank space...
and ALL other Adventure Packs releasing after August.

I am missing three packs: dragon prophecy (whatever) as I ran those quests as a VIP and did not like them at all, disciples of rage, same reason and Borderlands as i subbed after I came back and now it is free so basically i did not gain too much but I still think it is a good idea, I don't feel envy over others' luck.

For those who have dabbled in The Lord of the Rings Online, coupons to unlock all quest packs for free will also go out in that game. If you have an old LOTRO account, make sure to take advantage of the equivalent deals over there, when made available.

If you ever thought of making a second (or third) DDO account, make sure to set it up during the free coupon period.

While this change may come with some pain, pursuing the greatest good is worth a small measure of sorrow.

If you never bought a single adventure pack, race, or class because you're a VIP subscriber there's no reason to rage about this. Nothing is forcing you to use the code, so you'll be getting no less value then you already do if you ignore the code's existance.

If you have bought every adventure pack, race, class, and other account upgrade and pay for VIP there's still no reason to rage about this. Your VIP is still giving the same benefits it already had been, and it'll be getting an additional benefit (if you group). Thus you're still getting the same value from being VIP as before. Maybe a bit more value.

If you bought all the account upgrades and are Premium, you can safely ignore the code. Why are you complaining again?

If you bought most of the account upgrades but are missing a few adventure packs and are Premium, the code will let you save a bit of money.

If you've never bought any of the adventure packs and are a Free player, you'll get the most benefit from the code.

And finally, if you've got or are thinking of creating a second account for whatever reason, the code can save you a lot of money.

But regardless of which category you fall under, I think it's silly to rage over someone else getting (if they find out about it and use the code in time) the adventure packs for free. Joe Random getting the adventure packs for free has zero impact on how much value I've gotten from spending money on the adventure packs. What this does is ensure that if I'm ever teamed with Joe Random, I don't have to worry about which adventure packs are free to play or if he's bought a given pack. We can just pick a quest and go. The expansion content generally requires going to a new hub area to begin with, so there's little chance of me accidentally picking a mission from one that my team mate can't access.

I am a premium players that bought all the content, but sharn. So I am getting basically nothing from it, but I am still happy to see this news...

I don't quite understand.

Are VIP getting 10% to all XP plus a 1% per party member bonus to quest XP? Is the VIP-buddy-style bonus instead of the 10% XP bonus to all XP that we currently get now?

I mostly agree with this, but I will say that if someone is a $300 Season Pass holder, then they have a right to be ****ed if they don't get something extra.

They paid extra to permanently get all non-expansion content that came out during that period and almost no content came out during that period aside from the expansion. I do think that the Season Pass holders should get something significant since they overpaid significantly for the VIP period when you recognize that they aren't going to get anything more than regular VIP folks or Premium folks are getting after the Season Pass is over.
