Default Getting horse for new players too difficult

Hi, My suggestion is as follows : make the horse free . or easier to get .

the slow movement speed is a major turn-off to new players .
or increase running speed of new characters , because they run super slow .

If people have bought keep on the borderlands or VIP is it really too crazy to just let them have the horse?

Its accessible super early. Takes an hour of grinding, max. Plus there's Guild boosts for faster movement in Hubs available just for joining a guild.

There's a perma-mount available in the Store, if you really need it that fast. That's what the Store is for...pay for things you're too impatient to get in-game.

It's a huge perk - it's not something that anyone/everyone should get for free. If it was all given away, THAT would be a turn off, as people would be bored. An hour, or even two, of running the wilderness is an unreasonable price. Anything good is worth working for.

    Millenials.

This, getting mount is actually fairly easy, if you bother to check where rares spawn.

so are you telling me that you think the movement speed in the beginning of the game is okay? not too slow ?
like right when you make a character imagine you don't have any past lives or gear and have not joined a guild and don't have expeditious retreat
I'm saying its painfully slow .

I don't want to come off as the player whom complains to the DM attempting to get more powerful free stuff .
I already have that stuff , Just want a better environment for new players

How long do you not have Expeditious Retreat for? Like, 5 quests?

If you weren't aware, it's a automatic clicky end-reward from one of the Korthos quests.

You can sell loot from your first few quests and buy Haste pots too, that's 30 secs of 30% runspeed. Enough to zip through town or through Korthos quick and get to Anger's Step that much faster.

Took me about 90 minutes to farm up my feathers that doesn't seem very difficult at all.

    agree.

but i won't give free horses.

i'd set base run speed on par with striding 30 and delete\adjust item\spells accordingly, kicking movement out of itemization\pl. free new player from hassle for what? just to move around? farming clickys is fast and easy? sure, but that's a bad way of welcome them. the worst one. just to be able to decently move while exploring a new game.

I got a horse the first day of Borderlands. It took like 60 minutes.

60 minutes for a huge, permanent perk? That's a steal.

I've been wandering around that blasted explorer zone for days now and I got only a handful of tokens to show for it, I don't know what everyone is going on about "1 hour of grind", it's crazy hard getting a horse.

Here is a guide with a map on how to farm feathers for a horse:

    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...athers-quickly

It might take you longer than what others said it took them, or faster. It all depends on luck or lack of it. If you have a friend or guildie who already has a horse, ask if they want to come along and pass over any feathers dropping for them. I did a full sweep on all rares (not all were in) and the one guildie who still needed feathers got 16 from that one run.

The Qual feather tokens can now be traded in chest so you can ask a guildie who doesn't need them to run with you and get them twice as fast, too.

I've helped several people get horses and, generally, it took about an hour.

Getting the basic mount is easy and can actually be done on a level 3 player. If anything once the pack has been out a while I wouldn't complain if other basic mounts of a different type were later added to newer quests and expansion packs.

While I am aware that for some reason mounts are a huge big deal to a lot of people, I don't understand it. I still have horse-feathers in bank that I haven't bothered to covert to a horse on any character. The reason I have a stack of feathers is because they're so ridiculously absurdly easy to get. I really can't imagine an easier farm.

If the current horse-feathers is too much of a chore for any player, that player will not be long playing DDO.

BTW, I definitely do understand the run-speed desire. It was the first thing I wanted 5 minutes after starting to play on my first character when I saw a vet whoosh past me like I was standing still. You'll acquire it long before you cap on your first life, though. It's not really an issue.

I bought Borderlands but I have not yet bothered with farming up a horse. I am lazy.
I don't feel like wasting 3k DDO points for the cosmetic borderlands pack.

My tentative plan is to wait for Feywild expansion that will probably include 120% bonus speed horses and dish out for that.

oh word? i remember it didnt work like that when it first came out , or maybe that was just the horsehoes that could not be traded in chest .

in Pencil and Paper DnD . do you let your players start with horses if they want or do you make it way difficult? I have played with one DM that always just kills our horses every combat , pretty annoying .

in DDO to get a horse I had to grind all night and then another hour in the morning to get a horse at lvl 30 . at lvl 1 it must be an even worse slog

Alright but imagine you just started playing the game for the first time and didn't have Expeditious Retreat or even know what Expeditious Retreat is .
