Curious to know what LEGAL obligation SSG has to prevent numerous harassment complaints.

Wondering what the implications or how much trouble SSG would be in if the victim of the harassment committed suicide and directly cited harassment in DDO was the reason.

Absolutely none, IANAL but the answer is obvious. That's like asking how much liability ATT has if someone commits suicide and cites messages and phone calls they got on their ATT account cellphone. SSG doesn't sell a mental health service, so they'd pretty much never be liable for mental health of their customers, unless they were dumb enough to try to help someone with their mental health issues, I guess. Probably forbidden in their employee policy, other than calling the authorities for a wellness check if someone is reported to be suicidal or purports to be.

It'd be a tiny drop of bad publicity, but MMO players don't care. EQ parents left their kids to die in hot cars to raid on time, people have played WOW till they fell over dead, and noone cared. WOTC might care more since they don't want to relive the 80's anti-DND fervor, but honestly that era is gone forever. Kids spend all day hacking and shooting people to death, and there are games where you can hire a prostitute and then kill her to get your money back after. DND will never generate the kind of fear it did back then, and I'm pretty sure WOTC knows that.

Im being pushed off my beloved home server.... im actually seriously thinking about moving servers.... I dont wanna leave :'( Nothings being done to stop it... Absolutely no ramifications at all. Mostly because DDO and SSG aren't responsible for anyone's mental health.

Ah, so somewhere along the line of attempting a resolution, you "choose poorly" in action or reaction. Which is too bad because there was some good advice to help you "get past" this.

Keep in mind that many people have dealt with bullies in their life at some point, my parting advice will be to make sure you listen to advice, weigh it and "choose wisely"

As a lawyer I always wonder what people are thinking when they post stuff like this. Do you think you can just intuit the law in every jurisdiction? I wish I had that power! It would make legal research a lot easier.

Squelch is simply a ignore function. If you want to see proof of how ignoring works just make another one of these threads in a few days and see if anyone replies.

Squelch is the first part - It prevents them from joining your groups, sending you a tell or even seeing any "messages" they send you.

The second part is going anonymous which outside of Guild would prevent people from knowing you logged on.

It is easy to track someone that is not anonymous because the Friends List tells you when they logged in. Which is something you can also do with their name to know when they are on and where they are. Knowing this lets you choose to be elsewhere

The sad part is you come off like you are the only one that has ever been bullied, I would hazard that just about everyone that responded with options you can take that did not involve switching servers has been bullied at some point. Some ending in poor ways and some ending in a way that ended what seems like daily agony.

I know I said in my last post "parting advice", but here is a P.S. take this time off to decompress and heal, unfortunately you have to give this "win" to your bully, but now pledge to yourself that was their last win. When you come back uses the squelch and anonymous tactics combined. If they do find you, don't react move on, don't show any sign that you are bothered. Bullies get what they want when they get the reaction, they lose interest when you don't react.

Oh wow, I heard about internet lawyers, but I've never met one until now. Yeah, generally I can intuit quite a bit of the law in every jurisdiction. They always get mad when I shoot or grope people, don't like it when I take things without paying, they really want me to pay taxes, and they never, ever listen when I try to hold a third party game company responsible for my own bad decisions wrt what some random people said to me online.
