DDO Community Drive for Extra Life!

Last year, the LotRO community raised a lot of money for the Extra Life charity. This year, for personal reasons, I want to encourage the DDO community to get involved, too.

In August 2018, my 16 year-old niece was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease. Instead of volleyball tournaments and high school, she's she's getting fitted with an ICD so her heart doesn't stop and meeting with transplant teams. My family is being amazing about what's happening, but it's a lot to ask of a kid and her parents. So, as someone who's witnessed firsthand what Extra Life and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals do, let me say that the care, compassion and expertise my family has received so far has provided much-needed comfort in tough circumstances. It makes an enormous difference.

Evennote, Tholgrin and I were already planning Shroudpalooza when my niece got her diagnosis. When I asked them, along with Cordovan, if it would be okay if we played for Extra Life this time around, they were all supportive. (Thanks again, guys!) We're playing for Boston Children's Hospital, since that's the closest CMN hospital to Standing Stone Games.

There's a link to Extra Life on the Shroudpalooza web site. Please consider donating to the charity, either on this community page or that of another gamer. 100% of the donations go to the children's hospital. TOGETHER we will make a difference for sick kids!

Ouch Positive thoughts towards the young'un & fam. Hoping for an organ coming available quickly always feels awkward because for one to gain, someone had to lose - but I shall wish it nontheless.

Unweighted. One donation will be one entry. As much as I would like to encourage larger donations for Extra Life, I don't want to penalize anyone because of their budget.

And, ultimately, if a legion of DDO players each give what they can to help sick kids, the end result will be huge.

I was happy to contribute. Three years ago this Nov, I had a triple bypass. (One of my friends said REAL mean get quadruple!) I was 67 at the time and a grizzled 21 year Navy vet then a 16 year street cop as a second career, so all in all, a tough old bird and I was apprehensive at times after the surgery so I can imagine that at 16, she might be pretty frightened. Please tell her that it won't be easy, but it's doable, plus she has her family to help her through it. God bless her and her parents and you. Fondest regards, Whoodat on Ghallanda.

I really appreciate your contribution, and everyone who's helped out the Extra Life drive so far. Hopefully we'll make life better for the sick kids and their families who find themselves needing the services of Boston Children's Hospital! I'm pretty amazed at the generosity the DDO community has already shown. Thanks so much!

I totally underestimated how amazing the DDO community is - we've already surpassed the original $500 goal! I thought that was a reasonable amount to reach by December, but I was wrong. Shroudpalooza hasn't even started yet, and it's been blown up!

I've updated the goal to the next milestone. Another prize giveaway will be added if we reach that. We're also talking about things we could do during Shroudpalooza that could be triggered by donations during the stream, such as having to take off our character's armor, getting to put gear back on, party wiping in the prismatic wall during the final Shroud run of the day (a.k.a. rainbewing) and a fiendling certificate giveaway. If you have a fun suggestion, let us know!

I did want to note that anonymous donors can't be reached for prizes. If you've made an anonymous donation, and you didn't realize this would count you out, you can send me a message here or e-mail Shroudpalooza @ gmail. We'll be awarding the point code that DDO Players donated in a couple days.
