Just please allow us to trade in/convert our old ingredients from Mabar to the new event pretty pretty please, many of us have lots left over from previous years.
Thank you.

oh look new ingredients to replace our freshly depreciated ones. thanks a lot guys.
"When asked if the developers hate the players, as they make so many challenging jumping puzzles, their response was that they have what they consider a “… normal amount of contempt for the players.” This is good. A dungeon master should always nurse a healthy contempt for his or her players."
Is second (or third or 5th or whatever) the notion of allowing us to convert the old mabar ingredients to the new. Completely useless items are no fun to lug around, and we did earn them previously, did we not?
That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.
Feature wishlist: colour-coded HP bars; red/blue teams in raids; rez-timer in party menu

Why Challenges?! The Mimic event was scrapped as the Mabar replacement, because the community made it clear we wanted Mabar back. So instead of a similar event, we get Challenges? Just because people either love or hate Challenges, and people either loved or hated Mabar, doesn't mean they should be mixed together simply because they have the love/hate thing in common.
Oh, and I'd like a way to convert every one of these, before they turn to dust, please...

A 6* run on the Rushmore challenges (where you can't sell time to the Kobold) can be 35 mins. In a half decent group with ears it's pretty much a guarantee that you'll get 6* and the XP particularly in the Epic is well worth the time.
Not concerned about the time at all particularly if the XP is worth it![]()

The old Mabar dragon instances with 24 players were a massive lagfest and your party were not guaranteed to all end up in the same instance. If we have a way to control the party members and a lag free experience then I'm all for it.
Challenges are consistent with the Crystal Cove so I don't have any real issues with that.

I want DDO to be a better game. Those are my personal suggestions on: Ammunition, Archmage, Combat Stances, Deities, Dispel Magic, Epic Destiny Map, Fast Healing, Favor, Favored Enemy, Half-elf Enhancements, Monk Kensai, Monk Stances, Past Life, Potency, Potions, Ranger Spells, Summons, Tiered Loot.
First to the OP, thanks for the screen shots, it pays to get lost once in awhile I guess![]()
Second, Why challenges? Maybe this is their answer, which the community has been screaming for, to removing lag when you have 60+ people on a server creating the "main" instance. Now you have 4 x "Main Instances" and you determine, not some random count, of when you want to enter. We will all have to wait to see what these new "challenges" are, but I can hope they listened and we no longer have to collect 2500 ingredients and then have a mad dash to enter the instance.
A new mabar ???
ohh yeahhhh... i am so happy for that !
Check your bags. All the previous mabar stuff is labeled 'Crumbling' with flavor text indicating they are worthless. I would be mad about losing a bunch of work casually, but I'm sure they are doing it because of the dupers who stacked the hell out them. The ten thousand mote stacks I made by actually grinding the stuff will just be memories of lag.
Rushmore challenge duration can be controlled by the player. If you don't want to commit the whole 45 minutes to a complete run you can choose to run a 15 minute version. If you go click on Picture Portals, you'll see the quest dialog says:
Duration: 8 minutes
The dialogs in the OP don't say 8 minutes like Rushmore, they say 35 minutes. Best case scenario is a 35-minute timer counting down, worst case is a Rushmore-style challenge where it takes 45 minutes before you even start to earn rewards. (You can't earn rewards in Picture Portals in 8 minutes. I think it's something like 17 minutes minimum to get to a boss for the first star.)
Worth quoting since people are still talking about the length involved *g*
Even if the durations were accurate, my money would be more on a time limit (such as New Invasion or Prey on the Hunter) than a challenge-type length. If it only takes you 10 minutes to get to the objective, you're not stuck waiting. And don't look too closely at my forum title and take that as gospel, 'cause I have about as much clue as to what the gameplay is gonna be like as anyone else, and what I do know about anything else I can't tell ya *g*

just checked on Khyber - yep it there.
Am VIP and had a challenge token....
no entrance permitted....
Still glad to see it moving forward.[/QUOTE]
Also present on Cannith but, slightly worryingly, all three I found just said "You must be level 15 to enter here".
I don't have a level 15 toon. I assume this is just holding text... I hope (fingers and toes crossed).

@ Steelstar :
Please comment on if/why the old Mabar mats are worthless. Why would Turbine scrap the old ingredients people worked so hard for and had been saving since the last iteration? This upsets me quite a bit as a player because:
1) Devs knew the players were saving them for Mabar and Mabar-reincarnated and had been waiting all this time for you to make the right choice
2) The performance issues in place required an EXCEPTIONAL effort for players to persevere and earn our mats and scales (patience, lag wipes, sudden closures, long periods between iterations)
3) Devs ended the event without notice- no opportunity for use 'em -or-lose 'em
4) Devs could easily put a barter system in place- you've apparently just chosen not to.
I gotta say I feel slighted by this process. Now please respond in this thread and tell me I'm all wrong and you will be implementing a barter system. If not- I'd really like to hear an explanation of why you won't be.

To reiterate some of what Steelstar said: Don't worry too much yet - especially about the "challenge" part. Yes, these will be somewhat similar to challenges, but they are less like all existing challenges than anything called a Challenge so far. Expecting it to be just like Cannith and Eveningstar challenges would be misleading.
Crystal Cove, Risia, Festivult, and the Midwinter Festival are all still around, using the same ingredients. All were going on before the massive duping came to light. The event went on for 4 years, which is enough time for legit players to have a lot of time invested in the event. Everyone shouldn't be punished for the actions of a few people. We also shouldn't be punished for the Devs not being able to fix the issues with the original event.
Sounds promising. Looking forward to the preview.
