GAH! First, 'good' MA weapons would be swords--nunchaku and sai were just farming implements peasants practiced fighting with because they weren't allowed to own real weapons :P
So if handwraps actually got nuked, monks would need more weapon proficiencies to compensate, including things like longswords, shortswords, daggers, bows, etc, including a variety of damage types (bludgeoning, slashing, piercing) on a variety of weapon sizes (two-handed, one-handed, light). Give em bastard sword prof on their bonus feat list (that's supposed to be the katana, right?). NUKE Whirling Steel Strike, and just make any weapon with which a monk has obtained proficiency count as a ki weapon (sure, you'd get monks with khopeshes, but oh well). Change Stunning Fist, Quivering Palm, and Touch of Death so that they can be used with any ki weapon, not just unarmed. Unarmed fighting would be relegated to a sort of back up fighting style that would get very few boosts from gear (ToD rings, brawler's gloves, ummm....)
BUT, due to the greatly different gear requirements unarmed has put on monks, if this EVER happened, it would ABSOLUTELY have to be accompanied with the ability to clear ToD rings. Also, there would have to be some kind of trade-in barter dude that would allow you to trade in your no-longer-equip-able handwraps for a weapon of your choice with identical characteristics (especially important for Alchemical Wraps, only a little less so far Cannith Crafted ones, a bit trickier with Epic Calomel Wraps and Epic Wraps of Endless Light since they DO have contemporaries, but of a limited weapon list).
Of course, I have a feeling that your hope was not realistic, and more tongue in cheek...
druids,
prestiges for ones that were promised,
tod sets for all existing pres,
some content packs not challenges and not overpriced,
+3 tomes sold regularily, +4 in 3rd quarter for the money grab.
"I don't know half of you half as well as i should like, and i like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."
I honestly believe that most Turbine employees do listen. However, there is no responses, feedback, or even hints/signs in game that we are being listened to save when there is direct $ at stake.
Now if this is a cost of time, declarations of managers, feedback to the proper channels that aren't acting upon said information, I do not know.
And yes, I do agree, sometimes we players don't know what is best, but you know... (and yes, I do mean you, Maj) you do know how far feedback/responding can go with players.
BTW, grats on your kids win. Good luck this year! and I hope your kid enjoys the music as well. Got the wife a keyboard she wanted so maybe I'll be listening to music soon myself. (after she gets done relearning.... ouch.)
Maj, again, major props for your communication. You have become the cult hero of these forums, no doubt.
That being said ...
Here is what is frustrating. No one denies Mad's vaca time. God bless him, he no doubt he deserves it AND needs it. But was it lack of foresight or a knee-jack reaction to quiet the forums that he started those threads? Did he not think they would generate a ton of interest and response? That it looks bad to start a thread and let it sit for his entire vaca time without acknowledgement? Either from him or anyone else onthe dev team?
The thread is not meant for the fanbois, they are going nowhere. The thread was for those in various stages of discontent. Again, it troubles me that those threads were started and players are excited to participate in it, whether fanbois or not, and no one, and I mean no one from Turbine can even step in and say, hey look, we appreciate the responses and we'll particfipate in these threads in the New Year. That is the respect of 'acknowledgment.' No response indicates that these threads will go down in the deep well of being ignored that the suggestion threads seem to all too often disappear into.
Why did it take my post to get your response? It shouldn't be that way. Perhaps DDO can dial up the WB PR department for some training.![]()

I told him not to post until we get back....but he got all excited and well...look at it this way, he has all the time in the world to read everything now.
Edit: Let me just say he cares a ton, and in all my years is one of the most intelligent, and compassionate (when he isn't pulling pranks anyway) developers I've worked with.

These two if anything. They are inherently tied together.
I've made a thread in the last couple of days about how nonsensical it was for ML:8 Challenge items to require ingredients from ML:10 and ML:12 challenges.
Guess what I found since? Two thread in Lammania forums, one of them specifically asking for challenge feedback, reporting the same nonsensical issue.
Feedback requested then ignored is as good as silence.

Well Maj, you managed to calm us all down in previous threads where the pitchforks were out, and the torches ready to be thrown, I respect you for that.
I respect MadF for his intent, but posting the threads, and then leaving them to sit?
http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p...&postcount=160 is the one post I can find MadF made in the threads outside of the OP on them, and MadFloyd, I hate to toss you under the buss here, but I know you were reading(and posting on) the forums on Christmas day, at the very least.
Now, I was tossed under the bus today myself, and all that did was get me to download WoW and go for the 10 day free trial on Cataclysm. I was surprised, when I left in 2008 to come and play DDO, the general chat was nothing but trolls. I played for 3 hours today, and I never saw a single word in my chatbox that was generated by another player, I can live with that myself. It sure ain't DDO, but it is a clean and polished game.
I am purely saddened in my heart, because I know myself well enough to know that just the act of downloading and installing a different game, is the beginning of the end of my time with DDO. I love this game, but the incomplete content (with nary an act of even giving 1 PrE tier for just 1 single class per update), and the festering problem with breeding bugs, rather than eliminating them has all but broken this Camel's back.
I have been married for 18 years, and the last time I felt this crummy was when I broke up with a girlfriend in High School. I honestly see tons of words being tossed out about how much you all want to communicate with us, but it takes a forum full of raging gamers to get a comment passed down to us, like someone else said, it just seems it is being done to calm/placate the masses. I see no effective actions/ comments from 'Fernando' as we SHOULD.
It has been fun, but I honestly feel that the current attempts to placate us with fake threads to make us think our opinion means anything is exactly that, an attempt to placate us with fake threads.
I will still be around, but I have lost my hope. My prediction for 2012 is nothing will change. I would like to be wrong, but my prediction is the players will still be ignored, bugs will be ignored, the Known Issues list will only be paid attention to in so much as it will have additions made to it, not deletions.
I will try not to let the door hit me in the backside on my way out, there are a ton of you forumites I will miss more than the game itself anymore, since the forums are all that has kept me plugging along for the last 6 months or better.![]()

New raid - epic wildmen. Everyone hates it.
New quest items - they are useful, rare, and balanced. Many people are confused.
Various Alternate forUms are accidentaLly approved for a one week period, fernando starTs an account
The Spear finally gets into the game!
The Velah Meme skyrockets DDO's popularity, we see a commercial with President Jimmy Carter doing a Tempest Spine.
I focus on the broken promises. I have 3 kids, 17, 8, and 4. The one thing they have been taught their whole life was that if you make a promise, you keep it. They learn well, the 2 older ones don't make promises as a rule now.
There is far less than 99.999% of the game that is [not] broken/non functioning. I would say 85% of the actual game play functions, and that is being generous. There are other issues behind the scenes that also suck a person's will to play the game as well.
GM's that are at best, consistently inconsistent. A policy to more or less assume that a player is lying when they open a ticket to say that items disappeared from a bank/inventory and tell them to file a bug report without even bothering to open a chat with them.
Leading the players on for how many years about a DDO file defragmenter before MajMal finally came out and told us it had been abandoned, presumably long ago.
And the icing on the cake is the leadership. There seems to be a serious lack of direction, flow, and leadership at Turbine. Seems to be I say.
I am just to the point that I have no hope that they will keep their promises anymore. Every update we hope for more PrE's, we hope for a class or race that has been asked for for YEARS and get something sub-par to what we asked for (Although the release of 1/2 Orcs was the last time I was REALLY excited about a content release and wanted to spend money on it)
It is time for me to get away, go play something else for awhile, and hopefully I will realize what I am missing before to long, and come back with a new appreciation, but I somehow won't hold my breath about it, I really can't see anything but more broken promises down the road. Brutal honesty is much better than broken promises in my opinion.
