Default I need some Epic friends!

Four years of playing, there has to be some friends of mine out there with lvl 20 chars who enjoy doing quests just for the fun of it.

I know most of you are running with guildies now, but if I may humbly ask you to put Talonkage on your friends list and consider me if you have an opening.

anything lvl 17+ on higher than normal is desireable actually. But Epic quests especially.

The LFMs are few and far between. And I'm getting bored.

Would also like to see if we can set up something ahead of time too.

Just to restate my preferences, I like to do quests for the challenge. And I don't care about a perfect group. Five self sufficent friends with a fun laid back attitiude is what I want.
If we happen to have Brbs and Ftrs without mana bars, there should be plenty of other people in the group to help them heal up cheaply.

Any clerics who worry about resources, I'm sure we can help them out. But my prefered running mates wouldn't be a drain on your mana anyway I think.

Loot is secondary to fun and adventure. But of course the loot will come.

I want to run everything there is on Epic. Not just the best loot runs.

This is for true adventurers who want to run dungeons for the best reason: because they are there.

Thx ahead of time. Let me know who is interested.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.

without try to sound like and a..

Most people who run epic, do so with guild or secret or "super secret" chat channels. And to be completly honest if I didnt know you and I saw your build I would pass on you and wait for a guildy to finish up, or short man it.

I know its not fair and Im sure your an ok player but people stick with what they know. And we know a pure barb or kensi fighter is bringing a lot more dps than the build your sig displays.

Hope this works out for ya but for now you are going to have to make the group and try to fill with your friends list because most pug epic runs wouldnt invite your toon IMO

I've got three TRs running right now, taking most of my time...

But I'd love to try an epic run with you sometimes, Talon...

    I've got a 18/2 Paladin/Rogue who'd be up for it...

Quite an interesting gear choice... I'd probably adjust that before attempting the tougher end of the epic spectrum. I know you're a good person and not the power gaming min-max type, but optimizing your setup will turn epic from being carried in to fun. You should post base stats, feats, which tomes you used, and what's on your gs and dt. As is, you'll find your best fit in epic is with dest/imp dest duty. Your dex>str will really hurt your attack bonus. I'd probably LR at the least. GR would be too expensive to change that many levels.

Funny, I missed the part where the OP asked for build advice...I must need glasses.

Thx to those who responded. I got a couple PMs too.
When is the best times to catch you guys in game?
I know all of you have a bunch of alts. So it's sometimes hard to know who's actually online when I am.

    About my build....hmm.....
I'm not a min/maxer. But a close look with an un-biased eye will see many benfits that most would not think of.
Greater TWF, current version Tempest I, Rogue Haste Boost II....makes for a nice fast attack speed. (although not the best)
2D6+6 SA damage. (Plus Tharnes Goggles)
+16 BAB. A Rog 20 would have +15. Are you going to tell me a Rog 20 cannot hit anything on Epic?
Base saves are: 9/12/8. A Rog 20 has 6/12/6. So mine is better.
    Base HP: 132. A Rog 20 has only 120.
I have enough Rgr lvls for 30 pt resists.
Add 10 Min (extended) Wiz buffs: Blur, and Shield (which on a TWFer or archer is nice if you can get your AC up high enough to take advantage of it.)
    1 Min Haste, and Displacement.

I would say that a Rgr11/Rog4/Wiz5 is a decent enough build.

Whether my other build/gear choices are good or not is a different story.
By boosting my Int and Wiz, my build gets bonus SP from both. I'm up to 816SP.
I have a higher Will save than the average melee guy.
I do have some alternate cloaks and rings I can equip, but I value Displacement more than anything else, so those extra SP are very important to my build/playstyle.

I've only completed three Epic quests so far, so my knowlege in there is lacking. But I have an Improved Destruction wep I use in Epic, and I have a Tenderizer I can use for weighted.
As I get more experiance with epic, I will evolve my gear to compensate. And if I find that my build is lacking in some drastic way, I will reincarnate to tweak it as needed.

So far he seems just fine though.
This morning I could even buff myself up to get VON6 Epic traps.

Should be fine. DP clickies/scrolls (if you got the umd) are your friend. Dont worry bout ac, keep displacement going.

So long as casters are grabbing agro, theres no reason you cant contribute.

BTW, got those von 6 traps eh? Pretty impressive. Run von 6 a bunch and never, ever saw anyone else get those

They lowered the DC's with the new MOD. Tried them this morning just to see. No way I could've got them before.

it does take my skill boosts to find them though, and there are so many it will be tough to get them all down. Maybe with Brd buffs I can do them without skill boosts.

Eladiun, whether the OP asked for build advice or not, the advice is there. It is called advice, which means it is free to take if the OP wishes.

Talon: Good idea posting that you are looking for a group. I would also follow what Lawst is saying, and look at how you want your character to contribute in Epic quests, and then give a few tweaks in that direction.

The point of making it more fun by being a stronger contribute in epic questing is true. It sucks, and can be painful to go into epic knowing that you can't do anything but stand in the back and collect the loot.

I think you guys overestimate Epic difficulty. Granted I have limited experiance so far to judge from.

My First atempt was OOB , led by a Legion guy. He had a well laid out plan that everyone was following and things were going good. Although he was upset about how often people were missing. (definately not just me). But about halfway through things went bad, and he had a near wipe......and he gave up, and recalled. Really surprised me, as I thought it was quiate salvagable. I've seen much worse in other content.

Anyway, I went and dug out my Improved Destruction wep and Talon has been carrying it ever since.
I later did OOB with another Legion leader and we did just fine. A lot of misses, but the ID definately helped.

Personally, I expected Epic to be difficult to hit in. Doesn't scare me at all. Makes Wep focus feats on Ftrs desireable. But IMO, the AC's are not so high that people like Rogues cannot hit things.

I did VON 1 with no problem at all. Seems the ACs in there are not too bad actually. A lot of misses, but not that many. Even put away the ID wep for awhile.

Then I realised, I hadn't even thought about using my Divine Power clickies yet... been so long since I needed them I forgot I had them. Actually, I've only carried one 5 use one for awhile now. I think I even sold a bunch to make room in the bank.
But new version of Talon, can UMD scrolls if needed.

Attemped VON 3 Epic. Everyone in that group missed quite a lot. I didn't feel gimped campared to anyone else. In fact, I carrying five stones to the shrine. And had just returned from carrying two or three right before that.
Then people started making excusese to leave. /cry
Granted I really had my doubts about that Inevitible at the end, but I was willing to go the distance.....sadly, I seem to be a dying breed there.

Then got into a DQ2 Epic raid. This time I used Divine Power. I seemed to hit her better than a third of the time. More often I think actually. Didn't seem bad at all.
I looked at the kill count when it was over. I had 6. And several other guys had 6 too. I guy had more. Like 14 maybe. Didn't notice if he was a caster or not.
Anyway, I think I contributed just fine.
The Cleric/leader carried us through IMO.

Anyway, limited experiance, but all I see so far is hard quests that require some actual tactics to overcome.

Also the kind of people I'm looking for, don't care if it's difficult.....
IMO people have forgotten how to take on a difficult quest in the past few years. We had a lot of wipes back when the cap was 10. We learned how to compensate for low DPS. And squishiness. Heck, we didn't even have fire wall back then!

I'm certainly open for constructive suggestions on how to approach Epic.

But if I'm the one putting up the LFM, it will be first five players who join of any class.
That's how I do things. And if they are good players with the right attitude, we'll do fine. And at least we'll have fun trying.

All I really ask for is no quitters. or gripers. Nice people there to have fun and not complain. If things get expensive, let us know. We'll all help out the best we can.
But hopefully I'll get a group that will try to not get beat up too much and use too many resources.

I think you /sigh a bit too early. Mentioning tweaking a build doesn't always mean you need to. Just something to think about if you think you should. Jeez, a bit of backbone is healthy ya know.

edit: BTW, your Epic DQ2??????? If you have 6 kills, and other do, and one had 14, how long did the raid take?

Just switched to 2nd shift work for awhile, get home around 10 est, and weekends free. Have only done a few epics but am ready for some farming now. Don't need von1-4, but anything else would be fine.

I may have taken what you said a little wrong..sry. Gotten a lot of **** about my build lately. Might have let those frustrations come out in my post.

I don't remember how long it took. I was surprised to see that many total kills too actually. but I was glad to see that I was about average for the people in there with me.

The group had two people who I know and respect their builds alot. One of them was trying to get and hold agro, instead of killing I think.

As that was my first and only epic DQ2, I have nothing to compare it to yet.

My memory might be off to the number of kills too. but I remember thinking it seemed quiet high for DQ2. Surprised I killed anything after the first hallway. I spent the whole time either ranging the DQ, or blocking when she was on us.

The cleric/leader really carried us through with lots of pots. But it was his idea about the tactics we used.... other people gave different suggestions, but he liked his method. it worked out in the end.

Anyway, I certianly will tweak my build as I get more experience in Epic quests. Sry if I took your comments to wrong way, or let my frustrations show.

Even a super gimp tempest monk build can contribute if Con isn't your dump stat and you have weighted wraps. I'm staying away from Von 5-6 until I'm TR but otherwise epic isn't all that bad, even for gimped builds. And *gasp* I actually had fun playing epic today, I thought I hated it

Von 1 &2 are a nice entry drug to epic content. wk and oob take high-end builds to run smoothly.
(OOB hammer and anvil plus a nice rog; WK some high end dps for end fight and a caster schooled in the art of kiting plus ofc. a kick-a... healer for both)
