The devs have long said they make quests to cater to a number of different individuals... some prefer quests with puzzles, with fights-only, with flatforming aspects, etc. They're sorry not everyone likes every quest, but are happy that some of these quests fully distinguish themselves from the others.

Unlike the Pit or Coal Chamber, the Dreaming Dark does spawn two portals near the first rez shrine that get you past most of the platforming type jumps in this quest. And falling does not cause failure. If you can't make it from the 2nd rez shrine to the altar fight [message redacted].

Personally I prefer the Dreaming Dark over the rest of the IQ/DD series for it's uniqueness (Jeet's is a close 2nd). Please don't berate the devs for a different type of quest here and there... just note that most of the IQ/DD quests are pretty straight up fight-through style and enjoy those even if there's a little stress and whining in the last quest.

If you need to craft in DD... try to platform... fail... take the 2nd portal... and if you're having problems getting from the 2nd shrine to the altar... might want to make friends with 7 year-old next door. They would classify the DD as too easy of a platformer I'm guessing.
