Last night in part 2 of the shroud we had an odd thing occur. After killing the kobold in the west cubby and then killing the rest of the red names, we watched as the kobold's ghost walked right through the wall to respawn immediately.

    Bug reported it last night.

Here's a question I had about whether something is working as intended. Warforged brute fighting.

The odd thing is, when I rage, it turns off. And when I try to click it back on while raged it says I'm too enraged to perform that action. This can't be working as intended, can it? I mean, I can use clickies and it's fine, it stays on. Only when I rage does it turn off, and won't turn on for the duration of the rage.

I found it odd. Brute fighting seems perfectly harmonious with rage. Working as intended?

    Default Dusk Heart

I was curious whether we know if the concealment effect on Dusk Heart is bugged.

The item says it has 10% concealment, but reviewing my combat log it seems I am lucky to find one "x missed you because you were blurry" messages in entire combats. So, it seems to have an effect, but at a far lower rate than the stated one.

I'd still use it, because it is nice to have IFL on a trinket, but still...

EDIT bonus question: does Slithe ever post, or is he busy doing QA on Wall street?

I applaud banes coming back to handwraps...but when will we see the rest of the missing/malfunctioning in place? Ghost Touch, Transmuting, Pure good, and the holy grail of Greensteel?

I love that you are trying to improve unarmed monk combat, but the fact remains, come the big fights, they still have no chance against a kama or quarterstaff to bypass the DR unless it is one of the types a monk gets naturally.

Also, WW end loot table. Black Widow Bracers are not on the class based loot table for monk when they are clearly one of the most pursued items by monks in the quest. I definately have had better odds pulling them with class rewards turned off. (personal testing..8-12 runs with class rewards on before i see them vs 2-4 runs with class rewards off. I have done this with multiple characters to check.)

The "double penalty" for level protection items (Silver Flame Talisman, Scarab of Protection, etc) - bug or intended?

What I mean by this is if you have two (or more) of these items equipped, and are hit with a level draining effect, every item loses charges. Example: let's say you were hit with Enervation for -3 levels....every protection item loses 3 charges. So if you have two equipped you lose 3 from each for a total of 6. If you had three items you would lose a total of 9 charges (again 3 from each). So on and so forth. This doesn't seem right.

    Bug or intended?
I'm sure it's not technically a bug since I don't think we have any means of determining which magic item to take charges from first. That is, there is no system of "priority" for magic items that give you "shields" like that. That being said, I don't really think it's deliberately intended to work that either. Sounds to me like no one ever expected anyone to wear more than one of those at a time.

You should submit a bug report on it to make sure it gets into our system, and I'll pursue it with some of the devs. I don't anticipate this as being too high a priority since it sounds to me (who admittedly has little coding experience) like a complicated bit of new coding for something that impacts a low number of players. That's no reason not to put it on the RADAR though.

This could just be an unlucky streak for you, but it's worth us looking into, I think. It's always hard with anything involving a random number generator since it's very time consuming to get a large enough sample set to be reasonably sure the numbers are working correctly. Should be easy enough for us to look at the item though.

Bonus Answer: Yes, I'm still here and no I'm not doing QA on Wall Street, although the developement and testing of Hirelings has felt like the current Wall Street climate on more than one occasion.

As a more detailed answer, a couple months ago I took a new position at Turbine. I'm still part of DDO QA, just in a different capacity than before. It took me a bit to get into the rhythm of my new responsibilities, but I think I've got the hang of it now and will be able to spend time in the QA Lodge again attempting to pull back the veil of "vast and mysterious" a little bit at a time. Sorry for the sudden disappearing act.

Thank you much for both replies! The Hireling bit sounds like every large deadline project I've ever been involved with.

Luckily we've gotten past the "Pet Rock" and "Deranged Lemming" stages of hireling development. Part of the problem is that DDO is such a complicated game of options and abilities that we keep thinking of new things for hirelings to do before we get the current set of functions working. Classic struggle between doing it fast and doing it well.

Ooh... so did they get you an adjustable height barber chair behind Codog and Gazebo with possibly a longer whip so you can pronounce sentence on each new hireling build?

I believe the term you're looking for is "requirements creep." I used to do sizing for software projects (and software coding, too...but I enjoyed the sizing more...go figure), and all the people at the conferences I'd go to would use that term. It seemed fitting.

    Default RE: Dusk Hearts

Someone thought it was buggy a few posts up.........

Ive been wearing it for 3 levels and Im surprised how often things miss me because Im blurry.
For a 10% chance it has shown up as much as 4 times in 1 encounter but I usually can find 1 or 2 pretty easily.

Is that how its supposed to work? The time limit is the more powerful factor in determining if you can refresh the spell rather then the durability?

In the end its another reason to not extend durability buffs such as stoneskin and elemental protection.
This is what's known in my profession as a "bug." Not only doesn't it seem like it should work that way, it really shouldn't work that way. The intention is that the higher ablation level (the durability as you call it) should take precedence with duration breaking ties. Please submit a bug report on this to make sure it doesn't get overlooked. Feel free to quote me in it. This doesn't strike me as a quick fix, but I've been wrong before.
