Exploring the Subterrane

On Thursday night, I decided to Explore the Subterrane. I have been down there plenty of times having done the 2 new raids at least a dozen times but never had really explored the entire instance. Along with Guildies Shyvir and Rinket, the 3 of us went hunting for Rares and Explorer Areas beneath the Marketplace.

Rares:
We found most rares in both the Central and East Areas, and if we didnt' find the rare, we found the location where they would have spawned. Here is a few pictures of one Rare encounter named Garamol. This battle with only the 3 of us was bordering Epic at times. This room is a large circle where at moments you are shot up into the air similar to like fighting the Reaver. At that point we would be featherfalling back to the floor while being hit with multiple traps from the inner and outer walls. After gathering our bearings, Rinket and I found a "safer" spot to defend in finishing off the Giant Skelies and Specters while Shyvir handled Garamol himself.

You know, the 3 of us have done a lot of crazy and epic things in this game but that fight was just awesome. The reverse gravity was almost like a trampoline at times. It would bounce you up and as you fell back down it would at some times launch you back up before you hit the ground. Not to mention the trap damage is pretty insane. I saw fire and sonic and or force traps as I plummeted back to the ground (feather fall is for wimps ).

I didn't mention it last night but while fighting the biggun he does this "shimmer" thing and it looks like the specters spawn off of him. It's pretty cool to look at as it's happening. Not so cool as all of a sudden you have a few specters to go with Garamol. GO GO Docent of Defiance and Ethereal Bracers!!!

But anytime I'm game to head back in. After hearing about how hard the stuff in the subterean raid area was it felt good to go in there and tear it up in a 3 man group. Catch you tonight.

Yeah, with the traps, i can't imagine there is a was to disable them. And I would like to go back in and see if Garamol was the one sending us up flying. And as for "featherfall is for wimps", hehehe, keep in mind that "wimp" was healing your WF.

awesome ..ty for the pics..Id like to get in an explorer group to so I can start getting a better sense of my bearings in there. I guess that's the vault that was mentioned on ask the devs on ddo cast..the room you pictured.

I was just in a Shroud group and somebody mentioned the DDOCAST and hwo they talked about the "vault". That is what kind of sparked me to post the pictures. Next time im in there, i will have Fraps on for recording.

And yet again you find the time to take screenshots while you're supposed to be healing me. At least I didn't die this time. Then again it's probably because Rinket was healing me.

And the reason I took my featherfall off was because between the walls and my 20+ tumble I wasn't fearing the falls much. And with feather fall on there was a greater chance of getting a bounce on the "trampoline".

Ohh and if it hadn't been mentioned, I saw from your screenshot......PLATS ON SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol that was me silly :P (in the shroud run..on Suzee) I kind of put the mention about the vault more so for others who may have been looking for it also.

To clarify further,,,,,on the ddocast, it was the ask the devs segment and they were each asked what part of mod 7 they liked. One person, sorry cant recall, but he has an accent, mentioned somethings that he had not known anyone to have found yet, this was among them, also was mentioned was a person that will follow you around on TBC, and he wanted screen shots posted. Actually now I am blurring two devs comments together but that was the jist of it.

This is an extremely fun fight. I wish they put it closer to one of the raids or added it to one of the raids or made it into a quest or added a decent named loot drop in the chest. I have only fought it once and now like so many people I unfortunately run straight to the raids and this fight is not on the way to the raids. I think this fight might be the best fight sequence in all the new content...

They should have made this room a quest like the giant caves out in threnal.

Just the one room.

Add a few more giant skelletons.

Increase the spawn rate of the specters.

Add RANDOM trap boxes located on small ledges only accessable with the trampoline effect in play around the shaft for a rogue to disarm to shut down the traps.

One chest at the end, 2 if you get all the trap boxes.

A cool piece of named loot since everyone likes named loot.

I do recall being asked to do a raid and your group not having enough spots. Where was the invite? Already in group I would say.

I did a little solo recon myself on different characters (bard, wizard, cleric, barbarian) and didnt' get far myself. But with a Bard, Cleric and Barbarian, we did great. It did help that Shyv was WF for all the immunities while fighting beholders and the like. I do think that a full 12 player group would have fun, and might even be worse off in that room due to a lot happening at once. I could see panic mode on FULL THROTTLE there. As you can see im my screenshot at the top, the boss was not dead and I was already out of SP. There was a good few minutes of just surviving until we could find a spot to defend from. Not to mention it was our first time ever being in the room. We had no idea what to expect and frankley, didn't even know the room was there.

FYI different server but E M P I R E guild leader magnito often runs groups through the sub, if you are looking for any info on locations and spawns ask him, the first time we went into the vault I saw a +2 tome and I believe a smiter come out of that chest. happy hunting
