Default Stupid ?, but going to ask anywho...

So I got me one of them fancy-schmancy Sickle of Sypheros thingies, a +1 Transmuting Battleaxe & I've got a +1 Shock Longsword of Righteousness. I've also got a lot of +2, +3 Hammers/Maces/Rapiers/Schimtars/Battle Axes/Etc. Almost all Magically Enhanced & such.

But my post here is not to brag about my arsenal. But to inquire...why is it that as I'm advancing in levels (Dru is now level 7, I'm so proud of her!!), am garnering better loot & end rewards, have more HP & such... WHY is my aim when running a q, just suck all hell (its really damaging to my redneck status...lol!)?

How can I improve my kills? Cause it totally looks like I'm not killing jack when I'm on a run. And I don't want to be a burden to my party-mates. I WANT to kick some Stormreach butt. It just totally seems like I cannot manage ANY form of damage on the bad guys.

Any pointers/tips/clues/suggestions that I can use to make my kill level better & make me not look like such a wuss & useless player?

    T-I-A

Also...2 small questions. I've heard....shrines reset? And also...is there any way when on a q that you can see how many kills are attributed to your toon?

Thank you all AGAIN for putting up with my inane rambles.

It looks like Dru is a WF Barbarian.

    What is your Strength?

What kind of Strength items are you using?

Have you maxxed out your rage enhancements?

Remember, at level 7 you're probably running with "twinked" toons who have hand-me-downs that would make your "arsenal" look ... well .... not so hot.

    As to your questions:

    1. Shrines reset on normal. 15 minutes for a group; 5 minutes if you're solo.
    2. Hit "X" for a combat report that includes a kill counter.

But remember ... kill counts aren't everything and can in fact be deceptive. As a barb, however, you should be racking up some kills ....

A couple of items will help you here.

    1) Potions of Heroism. These may be too expensive to drink left and right on your first toon - I'd save them just for the boss fights. Of course, some casters will have this spell

    2) One of the game's best named items, the Planar Gird, is found in a quest you are at a suitable level to run. If you can get a group to run Xorian Cypher and run it about 10 times, you'll have a good chance of getting the Gird - which will let you cast Greater Heroism once per rest, granting you a +4 to all attack rolls (as well as +4 to saves and more). Plus, your first 5-6 runs of the quest will offer excellent XP.

    3) Your friendly Bard. They are more than just a portable haste clicky - if you can put up with their bad music, they'll give you bonuses to hit from their music and the Good Hope spell.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

    Big question is, are TwF?

If so, do you have Two-Weapon Figthing feat?
Do you use a light weapon in your off hand?

    What's your Str score?

    Let's see...

My strength is 17 +3, I have NOT maxxed out my rage enhancements, I don't see TwF feat in my stats.

So basically its seems that I've got a useless toon, right? Honestly I had no clue what I was doing when I created her. Should I reroll her? I mean...I'm tired of being, what I see as, useless in my party.

Wow...I really have no clue what I'm doing in this game. ::SIGH::

The best thing about being a barb is rage so thats what you should learn to use and thats what your enhancements should prolly focus on.
Just run to a trainer and get the action points reset and put everything you can into stuff like extra rage/ extend rage/ power rage/ hardy rage/ and that last one on will saves...stubborn rage?

If you don't have the twf feats just don't use two weapons. you don't lose much if you don't have two-handed weapon feats so feel free to swing those instead. You prolly won't want to use a shield unless you're supposed to be main tank.

Just remember to get angry and rage whenever you're fighting and you should see your damage go up.
be aware however that raging reduces your AC so you'll want to let the tank go first if possible...

Did you take the power attack feat? That feat will help you put out major damage. Also my thoughts and experience as a wf barbarian is drop the shield and swing the Greatsword or Greataxe. With power attack and rage on you will running throw baddies before they even hit you. Also getting rage clickies and pots helps too and will stack with your rages. So when my lvl 9 wf barbarian rages his str and con is 32. Twf is great also but takes a little more planning and proper feat selection. If your wf needs any gear hit me up, I will be more then willing to help out a fellow Warforged.

Default Just give it a little time....

You didn't max out strength which isn't the end of the world.

Once you get "Greater Rage" at 11 I think thats when it shifts back to the Barb.

Levels 7-10 are rough on a Barb cause fighters have so many more feats and a better AC.

Max out your rage str enhancements, that will help.

My Barb actually used a shield around these levels just so I wouldn't have to hear the Cleric whining.

Oh and like me your a WF so get used to hearing the Cleric whine.

Ok, are you sword and board, two-handed fighting or two-weapon fighting?

Because, if you are TwF, you're getting minus 6 to your main hand, and -10 to your off-hand. If you're using a liguth weapon in your off-hand (or got the Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting feat), you'll go down to -4/-8. If you've got the TwF feat, the penalty becomes -4 to your main hand, and -4 to your off-hand. If you're using a ligth weapon in your off-hand (or got the Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting feat), you'll go down to -2/-2.

If you're using a two-handed weapon or are sword and board, ignore that comment.

    No.
redo your enhancements to get the most damage you can from them.

You can respct feat with dragon shards. Definately take Impr Crit something at lvl 9.

The shock longsword of rightousness is probably the best damage weapon you mentioned.

Use intimidate skill often (assuming you can handle the agro and damage)
it will bring mobs to you so you can whack on them easier. Might increase the kill count of any rogues in your group, but if sudenly your rogue is getting the high kill count, you still know you are contributing.

Keep playing this toon....plan for the next.

If you can't tweak her into the char you want to play then make one you think you will like better....but don't delte this one til you find you never play her anymore.

And most of all, don't worry if someone else has a higher kill count.

Equipment matters more than build. They probably have better weapons from higher lvl toons.

not all is lost for Drusella... a reroll is not necessary. keep in mind, kill count is not the most important thing (ask any palladin or rogue that's had to gather up soul stones to save the quest from complete wipe). however, if you feel you aren't contributing and that's having a negative impact, that is important.

the first suggestion i would make (and it's been said here before) is to re-do your enhancements. i re-do them even on my capped characters as new mods are released and my understanding of the game improves. i use the web-based character enhancement planner here: http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~delallea/ddo/enh/ and it's been a great help to me. i've switched from just entering my current info to entering a maxxed character so i can plan for the future. it also helps with things like letting you know you need a certain feat to take a certain enhancement. i print it out and as i level i know when i need to spend AP's and when i need to just save 'em up.

read the barbarian forums and builds. it will help you understand the various enhancements that are most useful. rage has several different enhancements to really boost your character up. keep in mind your play style. i'm not good at action boosts. i remember to use most clickies and rage and such but for some reason those silly boosts get forgotten mid-combat. so i use those APs other ways. that's just knowing my own play abilities. i mention this cuz it's important to keep in mind. if you are a hot-bar-clicking fiend, those 20 second boosts can be a lot of fun.

as for your weapons, take a moment one day to check them out. when you equip a weapon you can see on your inventory panel it will specify your to hit bonuses and the damage. switch them out. compare them. see how weilding two weapons changes vs a two handed weapon vs board and sword. the more familiar you are with these differences the better you will be able to judge which weapons to use in which situations.

buffs can also be your friend. don't go broke over it, but it is helpful if you can do some sort of self buffing. i'm a fan of clickies over pots as it is less costly over time. extra rage clickies (baudry series, i think it's the third part), heroism pots or clickies. planar gird is sweet but harder to come by. haste pots/clickies are good too... they don't just help you run fast. lol. be patient with your party members... if you don't give the bard enough time to buff, she'll be less likely to bother in the future. nothing more frustrating than trying to hand out buffs and half the people run off before you are done and you cast on someone out of range. of course, it's better when you can reserve that haste until you're done, but all you need is one impatient caster (funny how they don't have haste until you are asking them to wait for a bard to be finished). back on point - scan the auction house for clickies. you don't need a ton but a few will go a long way. while you are at it, check for a lesser restore clickie for when those rages wear off.

You are not doomed to reroll at all. Not even close. 17 STR is plenty.

As noted above, goto the trainers and redo your enhancements. Focus on taking advantage of your rages. Take all the enhancements that make your rages bigger, better, and longer.

As for weapons, some will disagree, but they're not here posting so I will be blunt and opinionated: Use Two Handed Weaopns (Greataxe or Greatsword).

You didn't post your feats. Get dragonshards, goto the trainer, and respec your feats. Pick up improved Two Handed fighting. Also pick up Power Attack. Turn it on and leave it on (unless you find you're whiffing alot, in which case swithc it off for that enemy).

Last, one of the big keys to kill count is just being alert and running around and whacking mobs and when they die quickly move to the next and do the same. On my capped ranger I will usually lead the kill count if I'm trying (i.e. being very good about running around and always being 'on' a bad-guy/mob). Usually I'm a little lazy and lax ... my killcount suffers.

Anyhow, maybe some friendly Sarlonians can party with you and you can give them more indepth rundown of what you've got and help you out. I'm on Ghallanda, lest I'd volunteer.

    Enjoy!

Her issue is that she isn't getting enough kills.

Other than STR, what would change that that would be fixed by a reroll?

If she said she took too much damage, or died too much, or was constantly being held, or was just plain FUGLY then yeah ...

But the issue here is killcount. And the solution to that problem, I think, is STR, enhancements, feats and equipment.

    Right?

    Right.

But what if she also messed up and have a Cha of 14? What if she has no good feats? Is she going to buy shards for everything?
What if she wants to go TwF and has a base dex of 14?

    There are tons of possiblities.

True. But not everyone min/maxes. I was just trying to address the issue she presented, not take over her build.

Well...I did reset my enhancements last night and maxxed out the rage's and I took a few damage reductions as well as power attacking, brute fighting & damage boosting. I cannot reset my feats as it turns out I don't have the dragonshards Fred wants. I have some other type of dragonshardy thing (66 of them...what are they for?) So I can't do that.

Here is a peek at my build...I'm sure I made mistakes...as I'm not from the old P&P version, so I have no clue as to Dex/Cha/Con/Str/Int/Wis points. I just did what I thought I should do. (This was also before I had the user guide to help me along a little)

Anywho...take a peek...lemme know. I'm going to see how she works out today with the new enhancements. I would hate to have to reroll, since she's my ONLY high level toon. And I am enjoying the new challenges that the harder q's bring. But if I have to, then I have to. Right? I just want to be an effective player for my group.

Thanks all, for the comments/help/insight. I really do appreciate it.

    Default Hang in there

I should be on tonight and will see if your on. If not I will mail you some dragonshards and money to change your feats... Fred's charges are pretty hefty (10,000pp) sum. The dragonshards you have are for binding your weapons, armor or items so they dont take permanent damage. Also I have a +4 and +5 docent I dont use no more so it should help you out.

From your stats, I would consider putting more emphasis on two handed weapons, rather than going for the dual wielding route. Your (relatively) low dex score will exclude you from the two weapon fighting feats, unless you place your training points into dex at level 8/12/16. Which would, of course, also be a viable option.

If it were my character, I would make a choice now on which weapon style I want to use. Two handed weapons add all future points into strength and pick up feats that benefit that choice (toughness, 2handed fighting feats, cleave, imp criticals, your favorite flavor) or, put all future points into dex, and start taking the 2 weapon fighting feats as they become available. This will be a more tricky route to take, because you will need to go back and respec feats as they unlock in order to take advantage of them all, but it is certainly do-able.

    From personal experience:

I have 2 barbarians, one is a great-axe wielder. His gear is simpler to maintain and upgrade, he does a solid amount of dps, he has a very solid hitpoint base and more feats to play with (currently have him with toughnesses, imp crit slash, cleave and great cleave... the cleaves are fun, but they may get changed). He is a High Strength/Con build similar to yours.

My second barbarian is a dual wielder focused in specialized piercing weapons. Heavy Picks for damage, and situational rapiers/daggers/shortswords. This barbarian was built with High Str, and Good Dex/Con. His weapons are high end, and needing (wanting) to go 2 of each weapon set takes up more inventory space and is much more expensive. This style also requires more feats to make work well, including all the two weapon fighting feats and imp crit. The down side is he sacrificed the huge hitpoint amount that many barbarians will have, but overall he does more damage and is more versatile than my great-ax wielder... of course, he has better gear.

I guess what I am trying to say is, don't reroll unless you really want to min/max. Your stats are viable for either style, though you may consider switchin to two-handed weapons for a bit until your feats catch up for dual wielding, if you deicde to go that route. You will notice a significant increase in accuracy, and therefore, damage. But, you need to make a decision soon so you can place your attribute points to best fit your plans. Just my opinion.
