Thread: Dire Butterfly

  1. #1

    Default Dire Butterfly

I was all excited to get 15 on my TWF character, until I swung my weapon. I mean, seriously, who at Turbine looked at the proposed 5th swing animation and said, "Man, that looks awesome. I really like the agressive look of that animation."

Really? Flapping my wings like a friggin' [edit: dire] buterfly? Come on man! I know how much you hate changing whats in place, but this has got to go. Almost anything would be better than having to stare at this all day...

Think of it more as a pelvic thrust and you'll be fine.

I don't see it as dire on my TWF female ranger. More along the lines of whack, whack, whack, whack, breast attack!

Man! This thread was totally not what I thought it was about. I figured this would be another anti-Roleplayer screed. I had the popcorn ready and everything.

I would love to meet the person that RP'ed as a Dire Buttefly. Then i would run away. Backwards. With a potion belt on...

I wish I could make my character fat. Then I could call it the belly assault.

But I guess breast attack will suffice.

I remember laughing about it and hearing people make fun of it in guild chat when we first got it. I don't mind it now.

    What!? That's just silly.

The 4th attack has him spinning around and showing his back to the enemy. If you wanna talk about appearing ignorant, there ya go.

Well for the fifth attack you would run yourself through your enemies weapon lol. Even if they had a bolt in a xbow they hadnt cocked yet you take it in teh chest. A spin move can be useful if done fast enough. Leaping towards your enemy while leaving your entire chest open is not good.

Cool Now I feel sorry for

    the poor dire butterfly!

Why must we mock what happens in nature even if it were not intended to fight?
They are just as flighty if not even lighter on their feet.

Okay...I'm stopping now before the police realize what I just typed

    4th attack animation:
This is particularly true of a weapon that is hard to stop once in motion, like a glave (or a light saber, evidently). It still would be a pretty rare maneuver in one-on-one fighting, since an opponent with a shorter weapon who is not off balance can strike you faster than you can strike them. Still, speaking from martial arts experience there are plenty of times where a spin-kick was the right answer to an opponent's move.

5th: what'evs. At least it stands out.

Stands out litterally in that, "Hey, stab me right here! Heck, I'll even make it easier for you!" kind of way.

That's only true if you are sparring under restrictive rules that prohibit the best reactions to an opponent who turns his back. For obvious reasons of safety, many or most styles have rules like that.

Would the animation look better if all armor had those big, leather, padded unda pants that the guys in Clockwork Orange wear? Think of how intimidating that would be in PvP.
