Default This is not The Greatest Story in the World, No No!

    This is just a Tribute!

----Where to begin….maybe in the middle…or how about a brief synopsis: Picture this, a motley crew of adventures, Elven Wizards, Dwarven fighters, Human rogues, two Beautiful Clerics and a Warforged Ranger to boot! Twelve in number this group became, ready to slay the Titan. Hastily they formed and proceeded on there way, going in groups of three and four to the entrance of the lair…..no problems up to there. They navigated trap after trap, slayed one, two….ten Orges and a few Magi too. All is well as they raid the halls leading to the Titan, anticipation grew as they cleared everything and waited for one lonely soul to join them….TIME TO OPEN THE CHESTS! Ouch….but no matter the quest was the Titan, not treasure and they move on….spirits high.
----Forward in time, the party is split as we stay with the Blue group…navigation is difficult and communication tough…two groups trying to talk over each other…such is the nature of the Titan. A group of six…..a yell goes out “OGRE MAGI AND FLAYER….STAY BACK, THE FLAYER WILL GET US.” Kehgeld says “Relax, I’m just going to pull the Magi back…..” “Oh NO”. Soul Stones litter the ground, but all is not lost, the cleric…where is the cleric….alive…and safe. The group runs to her sanctuary and she saves them all, Minus the Warforged, he can’t reach her….a shrine he sees but the Flayer and Magi are still there. He runs to the shrine, warmth fills his cold adamantine shell, alive again…..all is not lost. Relief under the stairs, he can hear the Flayer looking for him…but he can’t be found. Then he hears a most wondrous sound, his friends coming to save him….relief, as they once again reunite. Laughter and back slapping, “Close one, nice recovery” someone says. They move on......
----Tunnels of water and tricky gates, the group has split again and as we follow them they number three. Conversations in the back ground, vague references to that need to get done…he’s unconcerned, the group of three have there own worries. Then its over, the gates have been navigated, but wait….he’s told there may be a chest and behold the Rogue is good on his word and we find the three in a small room deep below the surface. For now, they alone will have dominion over the chest. Opened….and its good…they are a happy bunch…all is well. He’s told he can leave the water as the Rogue and Sorcerer finish up in the water tunnels. There’s something said by the Rogue about Warforged on the ledges and a ladder...he doesn’t hear the rest…four groups talking, all after one goal, the Titan.
----A head breaks the surface of the water, like a crocadizilla stalking prey. He turns slowly in the water surveying the area….many a day he’s stalked prey from the lakes in the forest....large unfamiliar Golems, a metal that calls to his soul…but he can’t place it. THERE!!! He spots his confused and enslaved brothers; he will end their misery tonight. All is well…his two friends are finishing the necessary preparations….the three other splinter groups sound content. They are doing what they must….he spots a ladder up to his brothers; he will be swift and unmerciful.
----Water explodes and a furious wave crashes into the room as a massive body vaults completely out of the pool. He will be swift and deadly….the strange Golems have no life…he concentrates on the ladder…..his brothers see him and turn. He angers as they shoot him with puny bows….the ladder is close…three more steps and he will leap half the distance up the ladder to save time……closer…..closer….NOW….he jumps…..
----What’s happening, the ladder raises just out of reach….anger turns to confusion…..he looks around….THE GOLEMS HAVE COME ALIVE….he realizes to late what he’s done….standing…alone…….silence. The eleven adventures at once start to talk rapidly….”what happened”…”the barriers are up”…“were locked out”…he is ashamed and can stay quiet no more….he tells the group he went after the Warforged on the ledge….a gasp….”You didn’t go towards the ladder…did you?” He can talk idly no more….THE LARGE GOLEMS SEE HIM….he runs….one hit….two….he’s hurt…the water is close….make it to the water…..cool relief….he dives to the bottom and sits…angry again…the party fully comprehends what has happened…grumbling…”Its over”…”That’s it, lets go to the Tavern”….”Good job guys”….Kehgeld cries out “WAIT, its not over”….they humor him.
----Still hurt and floating at the bottom of the tunnel…..he rises to the surface….the Sorcerer uses wands and heals him….he jumps out and swings…one…two…three, even four times. He hits the large creature hard…but they are strong….stronger even than him…he is amazed but not dismayed. He knows he can hurt them….SMACK one massive blow and he’s down….all is lost….he stares at his Stone and he contemplates running to the inn…..BUT WAIT…..the Rogue….the Rogue has his stone….calming him down…”I have resurrection scroll…..and I can use them, we have to find a place to get away from the Golems”….where….nothing but water and the Golems all around…even dead he has a good idea….”Take me to the chest room and we can think there”…the Rogue likes the idea.
----The three stand facing each other..a looted chest between them…they begin to formulate a plan…the Sorcerer has a little mana and very powerful webs and REPAIR WANDS, what luck…the Rogue has Resurrection Scrolls and a very hard dagger. His spirit lifts, he is a survivor…a Warforged…this is his calling. They surface together confidant webs are cast his Great Adamantine axe slashes to and fro...damaging the beasts at will…even the rogue helps attacking them from behind. Many times he comes close to failure…but time and time again the Rogue and Sorcerer keep him from crashing. The battle rages….mana falls short….finally…one of the beasts is DONE.
----The anticipation grows…people gather hope from the fallen Golem…they killed one…maybe….just maybe….no more webs….he’s out of mana….but has a Wand of Web…they pale in comparison…to his spells….there…one got stuck….they jump on the opportunity and knock its health down some….over and over they continue to whittle away at the monsters health….this one then that one….ANOTHER ONE DOWN….his confidence SOARS….he is ALL POWERFUL IN THIS MOMENT….With these two friends…WHO CAN STAND IN HIS WAY…none…..he grows bold….running from the weaker constructs no longer…the nine stand at a barrier watching….a powerful warrior in the group gets the attention of the strongest Golem….they capitalize attacking the one alone …one hit becomes twenty…all three of them together, they slay a third…
----Its no longer a matter of if….they have crossed that threshold….its a matter of WHEN….the party keeps the Golem occupied…the three, swarm like angry hornets around the last….its DONE….Kehgeld lets out a loud war cry….he has defeated the Dragon, the Storm and Fire Giants, a Vampire, the Huge Fire Reaver and countless dead souls and lesser monsters….the marks of kill inscribed in his skin overlap to the point he can no longer count….but this….THIS, was EPIC….he is happy, like he’s never been before and the quest goes on…….a glimpse of the “Grandfather”…happiness again….all is dark.

    The three:
    (Rogue-Sneezy) (Sorcerer-Rrend) (Ranger-Kehgeld)

Personally, I thought it was a good read. Too bad the grammar police( who I noticed also have spelling and syntax problems) are out in force. Besides, who among us has a real grasp of perfect English? Noone from my neck of the woods, myself included. No worries though, maybe their next stop will be a poetry critique....

Style can go along way towards making us individuals in a faceless world of forums, and I read through the whole story with no glitches. Keep it up, I much prefer a good read to perfect editing

    Default Well Done

Having not played this particular quest yet I could visualize the scene you were painting. Just an FYI for those who dont know it is considered flaming to critic' the grammar from someone else's post. There is an actual term for the periods you used. Although the name escapes me, it was an appropriate use. It is meant to imply a dramatic thought, as if the character were struggling to decide there next move. You used it well and I could read it fluidly. If you are interested at all the correct usage is with three periods. Again, it was an excellant thread and my reply is meant as a "Bravo". This was obviously a very intense adventure for you, and you conveyed it well enough.

Like what was said above, I could visualize the entire thread in my head, AWESOME!

As for the critiques ... get a life and stop flamming people.

First of all, I had no problem reading your story... I rather enjoyed it actually.

The punctuation device everyone is referring to is known as an ellipse... Properly, there should be a space between each period... Although I do not hold to this rule. An ellipse can also be used to denote words that have been omitted from a quote. (i.e. ". . . into that good night")

I don't claim to have a perfect grasp of the English language either, and am sure that there a few grammattical or spelling errors in this post... I'm just a big fan of the ellipse...
