Default Bow hits seem as disconnected as ever after update.

Not finding the bow to connect better after the performance update. If anything it seems worse than before, just lots and lots of dry firing. Starting to wonder if the new larger arc actually indicates they had to compensate for something they know they made worse.

I would agree and confirm this statement. Whatever 'performance' changes that were made and the arc changes have not improved ranged combat at all. Missed shots, whole repeater volleys that don't register.

And don't get me started with spells not registering. Fireballs explode, SP deducted, no damage, nothing. And you have to love the 1 point sunbolts. Glad nothing has changed there.

I’m a ranger 7, I’ve noticed a lot of misses and less damage to my targets. It’s frustrating, because I’ve seen what rangers can do in the past, and I’ve signed up for that. I’m eligible for lvl 8, but I’m considering taking rogue. I’m new to the online game, but I’ve been playing AD&D since 1982. I enjoy the “routine “, it’s familiar. I have to say that the enhancement’s have me bamboozed. I’ve tried finding a build with current updates. I even pm’d Strimtom, but I know he’s a busy man. If anyone has any advice for the level I’m at, I’d appreciate it. I haven’t leveled to rogue 1 yet. I’ll wait a couple days to see if I get get input from you, the more knowledgeable.

    Thank you in advance.

I have not run a ranger in a while to be honest. My current bow build is an elf fighter (for arcane archer in racial tree) and then going Kensai and Horizon Walker Universal tree.

As for taking rogue. If you want to do traps, it is a good dip. There is also some low hanging imbue dice in Assassin if you are using that mechanic for extra damage. Other than that, I would skip it as both Arcane Archer and Deepwood Sniper have pretty good capstone enhancements. (not sure which tree you are running). If you are going to go 41 in Horizon Walker, then that is another discussion.

Yeah, xbow inquis seems just as bad. I DO notice the arc increase, but still have most of the same issues as before.

There's also problems with my lightening mage, some bolts never register.

Noticing this more this week, last week it seemd anything small was a pain to shoot, as well as anything moving. This week it seems like it's anything, and even having lag spikes again that were gone for a few days last week.
Some legs growing on the thought that Friday's patch undid a few of the changes?

I've been back for about a month now after taking a 2 year break (from ALL electronic devices and games)

3 Things I hope the team takes a look at.

    1. A lot of missed shots. Even at breakables.
    2. The run animation of the character while holding the bow. Please revert back to the old animation as the new animation just looks all wrong.
    3. Rate of Fire. Ranger/Archer/Longbow fires the bow really S L O W.

After returning I true reincarnated my character Samyel so I could get a feel of the game again. He is currently level 26 and I like the changes. But if the development department can take a look at those 3 things above it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you are playing a dark hunter ranger, splashing a couple of levels of rogue is not a bad idea. It will net you evasion. However, generally if you are going to splash rogue you need to start as a rogue. You get a huge amount of skill points at level 1 that are very difficult to make up if you didn't max them when you rolled your character.

For example, by level 7 you should have 10 points of disable device, search, and spot on a competent trapper. Open locks is also very nice. Four points in each of those skills come from being a rogue, artificer or dark hunter at level 1. If you level to eight and start those skills from 0, it will be very difficult to get them all to level 23 by level 20. Maybe if your next 13 levels are rogue, but even then you would be forced to ignore most of your other skills. Plus, more than eight levels of rogue (for improved uncanny dodge) is often kind of a waste if you are mixing different classes. All they really get at higher levels is more sneak dice.

TLDR: If you want to do traps, take your first level as a Dark Hunter, Rogue or Artificer. It's generally not advised to try and splash one of those in later, at least not for trapping.

This drives me batty. I often have to switch to a melee weapon to get breakables, especially small ones like jars.

I personally feel like I am not getting as many dry fires on mobs (though still some to be sure), but breakables can still be really oddly hard to hit. I can stand right in front of one and watch arrows embed themselves in the model with 0 effect. As soon as I switch to melee it's fine.

I'm on an Arti repeater life and I think it's a little better. I'm still getting a lot of first volley's that don't register but maybe not as many and in the middle of burning mobs down it seems that switching targets registers a bit better.
