Equip 2 of the same named item?

If it works like Vulkoor's Edge [Toxic Treatment] then wielding two will count as having 2 items in the set.

I have a Paladin who dual wields 2 Chimera's Fangs (Heroic/Epic/ and Legendary (at times)) that I quite enjoy.

Some items have a tag called "exclusive", for these you can only have one of the same item equipped (or even in your inventory) at a time.
Other than those, there are no restrictions on using/having multiple copies of an item.

Sure, I have used the same weapon in each hand for many characters. The Chimera's Fang as previously mentioned by Buddha5440 is pretty good. I usually put a different damage type augments in each to maximize versatility.

I also dueled a pair of upgraded Spectral Dagger's from Night Revels. Great for those pesky specters and whatnot.

Really the only down side is if the weapons have a non-stacking type bonus. You will only get one of them.

Also...Keep in mind that Flint goes from 1.5[1D6] with two augment slots (Red/Orange and good for caster mix) to Epic Flint with 2[1D4] and one augment slot (red).

True, but not all are considered to count twice toward achieving a required number of items for a "Set Bonus".
