Default 32-bit client simply closes after choosing server.

There's multiple reports of trying to open the game via the 32-bit client, and after you enter your credentials normally and choose a server, the client just closes. Nothing else happens.

Personally, if I switch to the 64-bit client, the game boots up normally.

Checked Task Manager, restarted my PC, cleaned cache/game files, changed DirectX settings; nothing fixed the issue.

Same here. 32 bit client doesn't work at all, shuts down after selecting the server. Tried it on 2 different PC's.

64 bit client let me log in, but soon crashed when transitioning between areas.

It wouldn't be so bad if the 64-bit client worked as well as the 32-bit for some stuff. The wardrobe feature in the store to preview cosmetic items only works in the 32-bit client and the 32-bit client has a lot less z-fighting textures (so if you're like me and hate the screen flashing at times then it's better to run). The 64-bit has better memory management and runs a few quests like Lag Hill way better. But the 64-bit client needs to much work to bring it on par with the 32-bit version in certain aspects still.

Agreed, I prefer using the 32-bit client myself; hence the importance of the issue.

Have you tried doing a "repair" option from the menu?

You fellas will figure it out. My moldy oldy O.S. (Windows 7) crashes even attempting a 64 bit launch. I'm surprised I can still run anything really. I would wish you guys not get too much cursing from your clients while we wait. Me.. I have City of Heroes game business to manage while this investigation continues. Anyone spouting off angered curses just tell 'em they have not sacrificed enough AOL discs to the ISP gods

Default Switching to 64 bit doesn't fix the problem.

I had my client set to 32-bit and did as you suggested and switched to 64-bit. It's doing the same thing. Once I choose my server and try to log in, the client crashes. No error messages or anything. (This is on my laptop, which truthfully isn't the best machine to run DDO. I'll try to launch on my main computer when I get home to see if it works on a real machine.)

You might try beginning with all the bug reports you received last week when this exact issue came up with Preview 3 on Lama

If only this was reported on Lamannia. I mean, come on.

32bit client worked last week. I wonder what did they break and will this break prod servers, too?

This is a long-term problem that effects some people. I have never had that problem since switching back to the 32-bit client.

Except for a lot of players the 64bit client crashes a lot on zoning/teleporting - even with sound OFF.
So no DDO for a lot of us now.

I managed to get in using the 64bit client after specifying my graphics adapter on the repair menu rather than leaving on auto select.

I've never been able to get in with the 64bit client prior.

Hope they fix it soon. I used the 64-bit client until a few updates ago. After the update, I couldn't go below deck on the guild ship, the client would crash.

I switched to the 32-bit client and it was no longer an issue.

Now my 32-bit client doesn't work so I had to switch back to the 64-bit client and the same issue is plaguing me.

So I can't go below deck any more and the client crashes at other (random) times when moving through different instances...
