Even after switching from 32 to 64 bit, couldn't get into the game. Was able to fix it by changing the graphics card setting to NOT be automatic. Selected my actual graphics card worked.

Work arounds not working for everyone, I have never been able to get game to load in 64 and even changing graphics card, changing userpreferences.ini, clearing cache, etc. still not getting in, Cordovan says they are busy working on a fix for us, just hope it comes soon

Launcher continues to disappear after password entry. Neither 32 nor 64 work for me. I am not attempting bizarre workarounds to get the game to launch like I'm Lisbeth Salander. I expect a certain amount of bugs when a new update is launched but being unable to play the game is not acceptable. Please fix this by tomorrow and add weekend XP +25% as compensation. Thank you.
I am Awesomesauce!
We had one member of our standing group that was having problems logging in on the 64 bit client. It seems it was something to do with directx. Another member of the party provided a link to a microsoft download of legacy files for directx:

I've been having a problem that sounds identical with the LoTRO client. Type in my password, and the client thinks for a moment and shuts down without giving any error message. Even did a delete and fresh install.
I will be ticked if this has spread to the DDO client as well.
I have tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it several times. I have run the repair several times too. I even changed from 32 to 64 and 64 to 32 and still get the 20 out of 20 login in attempts message before the server/client shuts the game down.
So my experience is this
Last night at 10:30 pm i got home to notice saying 32 bit client not currently functioning.
i try to log on assuming that since i bought a new computer just last year that for sure i would have downloaded the 64 bit client.
I type my password it installs all of the update ... then instead of loading the game it just disappears like i never clicked it?
doesn't sound like the same issue others are having, but i dont understand how its possible that i wake up in the morning and i still cannot log in? was no one working on a critical error over night?
i work in IT as a project management and technical support specialist and if we had a problem that our clients couldn't access our portals we would have people from all over the world jumping on this to make sure that it was up and running as soon as possible.
our company is much smaller than standing stone as far as incoming cashflow and employee depth. Sad...
you should roll back the update since its obvious the update caused the issue.
The website doesnt let you choose what version either ..
i uninstalled and redownloaded the game form the website and it does not give you an option of 32 or 64 ... there is only one client? so .... what is it we are supposed to do ? and when do i get my money back for the days i am not able to play but i pay a subscription to play?
None of the previously mentioned fixes work for Parallels, probably due to its graphic card effectively being a wrapper around my Mac's. Fingers crossed. If other (silicon) Mac folks figure something out, please spread the word
I tried to get in the game using small steps instead of Uninstalling right away.
Nothing really seemed to work so I removed all my files in the 'Documents > Dungeons and Dragons Online' folder to see what that would bring.
It defaulted to 64 bit and started the game.
Afterwards I was able to set the client to 32 bit again and it still worked.
I hope this helps you all and maybe also helps in creating a fix quicker.
After trying file by file to bring back my settings I came to the conclusion that the UserPreferences.ini file was a problem.
When I restored that file the game crashed again.
So try renaming your UserPreferences.ini to UserPreferences.old and see how that works out for you.
The game will automatically make a clean file for you.
The ui files and keymap you can keep.
PS. don't forget to select your server after login.
( no characters in the character select scared the #$%%^out of me ;-) )
