Making a brand new char - what BtC to farm?

I am making a new alt mostly to play as a caster. I have lots of BtA gear - but what BtC stuff should I farm as I cannot share it from existing storage?

On my list to farm I have the following:
- Jibbers [farm is a strong word, but run when able to for xp in epics]
- Ioun Stones (200 spell point and 50 spell absorb)
- Jewelled Cloak (spell absorb)
- GS 3xpos item for heal amp (swap in to use with heal scrolls)
- LGS Affirmation weapon (very nice to use for level 26-cap)
- LGS Spell Crit Mult item (30% is cheap, 35% uses large ings)
- Greater Harper Pin
- Estar Key

Anything else you wouldn't go without if doing a good deal of lives on a character?

Are you planning to TR this alt or play at cap?

My fire sorc nuker only uses 2 pieces of BtC gear at cap: minor artifact & raid staff.

If you are planning to TR, 2 heroic GS conc-op items and probably a torc(possibly 1 heroic 1 epic for epic levels). There's also an orb that's very nice for the 18-20 slog.

I can check my TR cache for more suggestions.

Trying to farm Jibbers will leave you frustrated and wondering if the gods hate you for having the audacity to challenge them. Just run TTT three times every life for the xp and the chance that it might drop - for some it drops first time, other have run the dungeon (or rerolled) hundreds of time to no avail.

I plan to TR the char many times - eventually settle at cap.

I have multiple Jibbers on other chars so I know how that works. I wont exactly farm that particular one - but simply run TTT whenever possible when in epics and eventually get it. Maybe farm with loot boost during a boost weekend but thats it.

Recently doing a devil assault run for xp and favor one of the other players gor a crystal for a reward. Had no idea what it was. I told him that's for greensteel heroic crafting. He had no idea that was a thing. You'll probably be extremely frustrated if you're trying to farm greensteel. I haven't seen a heroic shroud run for years.

Legendary Greensteel is nice but for most characters it's only useful from levels 26 to 28 or if you have a character type with a specific need. At 29 there is a massive glut of strong gear ( a lot of sets ) that overtake it.

I have loads of Heroic GS mats from years ago and I can easily solo the raid on normal with an epic level char to do the crafting.

I already have an Affirmation weapon on two other chars (one is mostly done with TR the other needs another 10ish lives) so they have lots of use. Being able to use Affirmation from 26 to cap is very nice. I no longer really bother with gear at 29 the way I used to when 29 gear with top end.

I'd say forget actual farming for a specific item, be it BtC or BtA.

Just use what you have and see what faith brings you on that character.

No disappointments that way when your character gets nerved because someone at SSG has a bad monday.

Not bad advice. I still plan to do some Dreaming Dark casual runs 3-boxing to get the two Ioun Stones though as those are very handy and I am currently flagged. As I am also flagged for Heroic Shroud I expect to run that for the 3xpos hamp item. I dont often flag for Dreaming Dark or Shroud so I might as well do it now, and it shouldnt take that long.

Jibbers I will get eventually. Affirmation stick I might try to lure the guild into doing 1-2 runs so I can finish that (I have most mats, so maybe 2 runs with help). Tier 2 spell crit mult items I have plenty of ings for so I can craft those on a single run. Jewelled Cloak I will just run Trial of Fire for xp and get it eventually.

So, farming is probably a bit strong worded. More like - do what I can for without going nuts

There is a bta augment for Voice that can go in an ml1 item, so probably a better choice. (And probably already possessed).

Do you still conc-op and torc to be useful? I seem to be doing fine without those as mana is plentiful and healing with scrolls + GS heal amp works well, and will work even better with U59 and out-of-combat healing in reaper.

The conc item doubles as a very handy SP booster(+150 SP/double for sorc lives + Wizardry IV), so even if you don't feel like the SP bonus when it procs is worth it, still handy at level.

I tend to also hold a conc throwing weapon for 11-20, orb in the off-hand. There are probably better choices, but I find the extra SP helps + the damage is respectable if you spec it that way. There's so many other sources of hamp its kind of whatever for swap.

Ahh, yes. Harper Pin (greater) and Estar Key. I have those from doing the first life on the char - but should obviously have listed them.

Voice - I have that augmented on BtA gear already but good point. Level 1 Googles with True Seeing, Pursuasion and the +5% xp augment is really nice. I also have the augment on sprinkled on higher level gear to not have to use the Googles for the duration.

I am usually too lazy to use displacement clickies. I made quite a few of those on my main years ago but never really bothered. Better players than I will probably care more but I am too lazy to swap that often.

You do not have to do heroic Shroud to craft anything, we have the altars on our guildship you know

Lol, true. I actually knew that. It has just been so many years since I last crafted heroic GS that I forgot. Thanks mate

Edit: I still need the shard/greater shard/ superior shard though. I forgot about those. So, off to run a Shroud and/or some DA.

Not a bad point. I do have 1 or 2 of those masks though and they are BtA, and often I can UMD scrolls as needed.

this was much harder for me to get than jibbers was. but useful on those umd light characters

How much harder?

I've often wanted one simply because I prefer a re-usable clicky over a stack of consumables. Also because collecting obscure gear is the last part of this game I actually enjoy.

Ring of Spell Storing might be nice! And pretty easy to get after the changes.

For 10 through as much as 20 depending how lazy you are, you can get the Barovian scepter after Into the mists. You can even run through on casual if you are struggling on a first lifer. It’s a huge step up for all nukers at 10.
