Default GoRaiders TR to 34 point build

Ok so want to TR my 1st life 28 point Drow GoRaiders 18 bard 1 barb 1 fighter THF (mostly using great swords & Great Axes)
just looking to do some heroic past lives so was thinking like 12 fighter/6 bard or 8 bard /2 something else? or like 12 barb / 6 or 8 bard / 2 something else? Anyone have the time/effort & energy to go over feats/skill points/enhancements? I am coming back from a 9 or 10 year hiatus. would be happy with just doing hard difficulty or elite/R1s only. I did install the character builder so can use that. (only have +2 tomes)

Will be in a static group/guild/friends. NOT soloing. Any other questions feel free to ask. After the melee lives would like to be a Bard again in some way shape or form.

Any input/feedback/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Instead of Class Past lives apparently I need to get Racial instead? I don't think/not sure if that was a thing back from 9 or 10 years ago in 2014/2015 when I stopped playing.

EDIT2: Or apparently I should get some pally past lives.

EDIT3: and would prefer to not dump CHA & max out UMD as well.

    Default Anybody?

I'll take ANY 34 point multiclass melee build at this point.

Just please consider having all the feats & skill points & enhancements etc.

I think you're not getting a response because your request is all over the map, and as a result it's not clear at all what you (think you) want.

Yes, you can now get Racial Past Lives (started mid 2017 or so). 3 tiers of each race, each tier gives (in order) +1 to a specific Skill/+1 to a specific Ability boost/+1 generic Racial AP point (spendable in whatever your current Racial tree is!). And, yes, this quickly gives you more than 80 AP to play with (assuming your current Racial Enhancement tree is worth spit.) So, 3 RR's of the same race = a nice set of bonuses, but to get Racial Completionist you need 3 of each of 14 races, 42 total (assuming no new races while you're chasing that! ).

Otoh, Class past lives give a small boost (that can be stacked max 3 times), and Class/Heroic Completionist only requires 1 of each of the 15 classes, done. (And the new "Archetypes" now give a wildly varying alternative to chasing each of those 6 classes!)

(Also, just fyi, these 2 Completionists stack, and both are "auto-granted" - no need to decide whether/when to fill a Feat slot to "take" them, if you've earned them they're there automagically now.)

Lastly, if you have access to any Iconic classes, those will get a "double past life" bonus - one Iconic PL plus one (standard) Heroic/Class PL, by going to 30 and then doing an Iconic Reincarnation. And some Iconic PL perks are kinda nice. An IR resets the hero, just like a classic TR, and then you can start a new life either as a new Heroic build or new Iconic build.

    So...

Do you want a Racial template (a single build that you can plug (most?) any race into), or a Heroic Template (sim that you can plug diff Classes into), or do you want a Fighter-dominant build (fighter PL), or a Bard-dominant, or a Paladin??? Or what?

Note - there is no single "correct" or "best" approach to all this - pick a goal, short-, medium- or long-term, and start your march.

(See these related discussions, might help:

    Default Go's Crazy TR Build

My Goal is to get a pally PL & a Human PL splashed FvS to help the
1st time cleric/healbot 1st time DDO player in our static group.
Only inflicting this on my static group NOT for solo will be super casual.
Can this be viable for 1 to 20 in heroic elite?
Need help on spells forgot to pick those.
Also unsure on the order of class progression & the order of feats either or enhancements.
    Would dearly love some advice/input.

So, first thing first, you can only choose one past life feat for 1-20. This will be either a class PL or a racial PL, determined by whether you use a heart of wood (class) or a heart of blood (race). Getting your 3 paladin past lives is a good thing to pursue, however it seems to me that since you are a returning player who liked playing bard and are going to be running with a static group of your first life friends, you should aim to grab racials for now and play whatever you want. What a lot of other people on the forums might say aside, the order you take your past lives in doesn't really matter as long as you're playing what you want, and the 10 healing amplification you would get from a paladin past life isn't that huge. Assuming you haven't eaten a heart of wood or blood yet, I certainly recommend taking the drow past life feat from a true heart of blood instead of the bard because bard past lives are arguably the worst in the game. Then, probably the best choice of past lives to go for would be another drow for the +1 intelligence, which would mean your choice of class is your oyster.

In my experience of trying to get my friends IRL into enjoying DDO (as in loving the game in the same way I do), the best approach is to let them lead the party. If you have a friend that is going to be playing a healbot, don't try to steal their thunder by splashing 8 levels into favored soul because heroics don't need that much healing to begin with, and you will either bore them to death by doing their job for them, or have spent 8 levels on something un-optimal. Likewise, maybe you shouldn't play a melee DPS class if one of your friends is going to also try to kill things since you will probably do it a lot better than them and steal the show. I hope that helps you come to a decision, anyway.

For the build you posted, assuming you're going two handed fighting you really don't need to the cleaves. Especially as a paladin, since if you look at the Knight of the Chalice enhancement tree you get better versions of cleave and great cleave that share a cooldown and don't require one of your precious nine (10 if you go human) feats. Prioritize the two handed fighting line of feats over everything else until "improved critical: style of choice," unless you have a lot of keen weapons, in which case you just need to take it before epics. This only takes 4 feats, meaning you have 1 for either power attack or precision (optional but optimal) and 4 more for whatever you desire. Taking the dodge feat line (dodge, mobility, whirlwind attack and spring attack) as a melee build is always a good choice, but requires 13 dexterity to take (11 to start since you have +2 tomes). I don't see any reason to take 3 levels of fighter, and if you're going to play paladin you should take at least 15 levels of paladin so you can take both 4th level spells Holy Sword and Zeal. With the other 5 levels, to be honest, you should also go paladin because the best paladin is a pure one . Seriously though, if you're trying to play a melee while also assisting with the group's healing, paladin and bard, and to a lesser extent ranger are the ways to go, and pure will be best if you're doing racial TRs.

Okay, let's get this out of the way first...

Sure - do NOT try to invent your own build from scratch!

95% of the players who do what you're trying fail, and I mean FAIL, so that build simply cannot survive to the end of an upper-Heroic Elite quest. Too many moving parts, too many pitfalls and perils, too many EASY mistakes to make - just say "no".

My advice - find a community approved, pre-tested, customer-satisfied build on the forums, and use that. If you must, make some small tweak to same - emphasis on SMALL. (Suggestions @ bottom)

I insisted on inventing my first two characters - they still, a dozen years later, have not seen Reincarnation, relegated as mules - they were that bad. (Tho' they're getting close! )

But, if you insist, here's my feedback...

As Djoe said, pick one. Only way you can "double up" is if you go Iconic (starting at 15), go to 30(+), and then do an Iconic Reincarnation - then you'll get both an Iconic + Heroic (Pali) PL.

    Pro'ly no, not as is.

I'm not sure what the Fighter 3 splash is for (lot of builds do that for Defense, but Pali has that covered), but worse is that you're half-in on Pali and half-in on FS, so not really getting the good stuff out of either.

But far worse than that is this mess...

The higher Class Core enhancements are usually the best, and the real juice is usually found in Tier 4 & (especially!) 5 in one Class or the the other. 99% of "solid" builds take Tier 5 enhancements (VERY rare exceptions, and usually quirky builds). Similarly, 95+% of builds take at least 12 in the "primary" class, for Core 12 enhancements; again, rare to see someone ignore those (some Enhancement trees do suck that bad, so only Tier V is worth the effort and not the Cores, but - rare).

(Kensai Core 3 is based on having other Kensai Cores - "2" is not enough to justify it.)

You almost certainly want Tier V in Knight of the Chalice, and that's about 40-42 pts or so. The rest fill in what that doesn't provide.

    Then there's the Feats...

First, you want Improved Crit asap, and I'm not convinced that FS is getting you more than a delay of 3 levels is worth. Also, while we're on the subject, Fighter 1 & 2 for the early feats can be great (and a great early AP bump via Kensai damage boost), so consider starting w/ a mix of maybe Pali 6/Ftr 2/FvS 1 (in some order) so you have BAB 8 at Lvl 9 and can grab Improved Crit then.

Then... "Cleave" (and GC) are not what they used to be, and certainly not what they are in tabletop. There is a mechanic in DDO that allows "glancing blows" to create a soft AoE for every two-handed hit you make (also Dwaxes and Bastard Swords), which is improved by the 2-handed Fighting line. So you automatically have AoE covered, and more as you take more in that line of feats, and the slower animation of Cleaves makes it almost not worth the effort at all.

Perhaps a better choice, especially since you are taking Sunder, would be some +DC/+Tactics feats, to boost those DC's on a young character. (Note that Fighter 4 would get you access to an additional DC Feat, and give you another combat feat - just sayin'.)

So, for a Pali past life, and one that can help with some healing... I can find no examples. Here's a basic Pali:

    o https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...ginner-paladin

I'd love to try to put together something - do you have the Feydark Illusionist tree, or access to the Feywild pack? If so, I think I can make a Charisma-based pali-healer. (I think. )

Also, what +2 Tome did you grab last life (1,750 Favor)? Or does your build read that you have a +2 Tome in all Abilities?
