Lizardfolk Sentient Gem

I purchased the Ultimate Saltmarsh Edition a while back. I have managed to destroy my Lizardfolk Sentient Gem.

I went back to the Saltmarsh content giver and asked for a new gem and he just tells me I already claimed it.

I totally had not realised it was a one off thing. Is that it? I am blocked now from ever getting one?

Unfortunately so. Once per account, and that's your lot.
I do wish they would make this sort of unique cosmetic available somehow, as as a store purchase or something. Similarly the bottle of mist/compass/ticket teleport items, etc

Like Marketing Department rolling a 1. Its not as if any particular Sentient Gem is mechanically superior to another. They are essentially a purely Cosmetic choice based on Voice actor and personality. Its not as if people can't own Ravenloft for even cheaper than the Ultimate Bundle of Saltmarsh and acquire as many Sentient Gems as their little hearts desire. If whoever makes these decisions didn't want players to acquire one Lizard Gem for every character from the Content NPC they could have easily put it on the Legendary True Elite Saga for Ultimate Edition owners only.

Its like the carrot and the stick but they took a bite out of the carrot before dangling it.

It was such a poor marketing choice; painfully poor. Like "let's annoy people who just tossed down $100 extra for cosmetic stuff" level choice. I don't even like the jewel in particular over many of the other jewels in the game but the only can have one rule still rubs me the wrong way.

Sentient Jewels can provide Sentient XP, 50SXP per, so just asking for more (unlimited amounts) was just giving away free (unlimited) SXP at that point. Hence why the decision to limit to 1.

However, it does raise the question on how to get more if desired if something drastic happened (lag destroyed item for example).

As Jing said, unlimited is a no go. BUT they could as easily have limited it to like 30 and it had been no problems. 1 is just strange/bad.

It would have been a smarter marketing move to not make empty sentient gems worth ANY sentient XP and make the Lizardfolk sentient gem freely available.

And that's a silly excuse justifying SSG's poor marketing decision. Ravenloft hands out 1 jewel per TR. It could've been locked to 1 per TR can only claim at level 20+ from the vendor or added to saga reward (with a check for owning ultimate bundle). Any amount of effort to add a method for obtain multiple would've been the nice choice. The excuse of "people will abuse this" is really "we don't want to write a method to claim them that controls abuse so you only get one".

Also adding the Lizardfolk gem to the Ravenloft sentient jewel list would have been the obvious solution to stop it being exploited but still make it available to each character.
This would also requires access to Ravenloft, but now it is available in the DDO store I don't see a problem with this as a solution

Or as I and other suggested at the time, put it on the True Elite Legendary saga for the Ultimate Bundle owners like the Furious Sentient Gem in Ravenloft, 50 sentient xp for a saga run is hardly game breaking. You'd get more sentient xp from the named items.

If you willing to farm 50 sxp gems, then you deserve to have your fully upgraded weapons. Or they could just eliminate the petty sxp on gems, no one cares.

There was some users back when Ravenloft came about that complained that empty Sentient Jewels were worthless. Guess what happened? 50SXP.

So it's a matter of placing appropriate blame. Did the Devs add it in? Yes. But where did the request for that come from? Other players. Granted, it was a different time back then (SXP was much harder to come by and Ravenloft was being run lots so Jewles were being amassed a lot), but still, you can't expect years of foresight by the Devs or players for that matter to cover everything.

I would suggest making this an official suggestion to the Devs over the matter. As I do agree that there should be more sources of the Lizardfolk Jewel, but it obviously can't given it's current SXP situation.

If it's one per server per account, you might be able to get one on another server and transfer the character. Hardcore and waiting for the end of the season would probably work out.

In your particular situation, you could try and petition a GM to restore one for you by entering a ticket in. It might take a while, but there's a chance, if you can explain what happened and you'd be happy to just have the Jewel back and no SXP in relation to it.

Alternatively they could just write certain gems(like the lizardfolk) to be worth 0 sentient XP and let you get say 1 per month or something like that. That way the really garbage gems from ravenloft can still have some value.

They should probably just add it to the saga reward list. Saltmarsh has been out a long time now. I don't think people who bought the bundles would have an issue with that.

But yeah unfortunately if you fed it you are SoL unless they change something. Sorry
