Ideas:
- Cut backward movement speed in half across the board. Cut side-to-side movement speed by 25%.
- Dooms apply chains and continuously reapply them from the second doom debuff stack and onward.
- All melee reapers should be allowed to teleport to unreachable targets or those beyond a certain range threshold.
Pros:
- Paralells the reasons kiting is not an issue in pnp. ie. Movement is twice as fast when you aren't trying to squeeze in other actions (and jumping or Quicken won't fix it).
- Encourages balanced parties where casters have melees to hide behind.
- Doesn't nerf the damage of any character.
- Most devastating in high reaper where the discrepancy is biggest.
- Realism: Running backward at nearly full speed in an unfamiliar environment is effectively impossible.
Cons:
- Changes game dynamics a bit.
- One of the biggest characteristic advantages of being ranged is greatly reduced.
- Particularly damaging to casters that use cone attacks and thus need the speed to get out of dodge after dropping their nukes.
- Hardcore will be a lot more difficult.
Most of the items on the con list are arguably pros. For example, kiting is a characteristic advantage of being range, but it is also game-breaking, so reducing it might help. Nukers arguably should accept some risk for fighting at close range, and many people want Hardcore to be harder.
