ok..i had *thirteen* drop the other day and was...holy awesome sword! however its a bastard sword. I figure no problem ill just swap a feat to get exotic:bastard swords. Yet when i go to him none of the feats i try to swap at any level will allow me to take it.

Am i doing something wrong?

What toon are you trying to do it on? What I mean by that is what are the class levels of the toon?

Another question I have is whether you've ever done any sort of successful feat swap with Fred before (with that toon or any other toon)?

Good question, but you should post what class you are etc so someone can help you. I dont know the specifics for feat swaps, but I do know that you have to have 13 str to use a bastard sword, unless you need the str to take the feat too.

I don't see what "What Class?" has to do with anything - any build can take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency:X feat.

At first, I thought we were talking about an intervention. Phew!


Couple things might be going on...

First, if your character was Lvl 20 from before November 3rd, 2021 (U51) and has not Reincarnated since, sorry, you simply cannot use Fred until you do Reincarnate. The Feats all got reworked, no compatibility.

Hes a concept toon im working on for fun..but hes a ranger 1(went iconic to get levels) 6artificer/9blightcaster. I mean...its not a terrible thing as its only -4 to hit and my others buffs just overrite it big time but...i hate the constant popup at top of window. I checked the feat itself and the only requirement is str 13 so im not sure why i cant swap it. Oddly it lists handwraps,kama,shuriken and khopesh.

Remember a feat requirement is stat only, no enhancements, equipment or other boosts. Base stat, tome and levelups only

Artificer... is there any chance he already has EWP: Bastard Sword? From one of the Arti feats, mebbe?

Likely not if he's seeing the -4 nonproficiency penalty when looking at the weapon.

Do you meet the 13 Str requirement at the level of the feat you are trying to swap? I've looked at several toons and not having at least 13 Str (base + tome bonus) will cause it to not appear in the list because you are ineligible for the feat.

Where you getting that? No one said anything of the sort.

Arti free feats can grant it - feats, not enhancements.

Try the AH?

Run to 1750 favor and grab the +2? (not a quick solution)

Spend DDO store points.

Aside from that there is always run around in quests and break every breakable, I've gotten tomes from those. two, maybe three. in *mumbles* years. Also not a quick solution.

Often one on the AH, price varies .5-2M plat.

You can also beg for one on your "Server/Trade" subforum - some players have a glut of +1 Tomes lying around, happy to give you one, or a great deal on one.


But the "best" way to get one is to get 1,750 Favor, and then select Strength as your free one.

You only need the previous if it's an upgrade tome. A regular tome can be used without having the previous tomes.

You could also just reroll the character and fix the things that you want to fix.

Sounds like you have gotten 1 level on it.
