Default DirectX drops out of game

5 or 6 months ago My wife bought a new laptop and installed DDO. About once a month or so (we are retired and play every day) she gets what seems like a "normal" lag while running forward, but instead of picking back up after the lag delay, it closes DDO and go to windows. Message says DirectX-9 stopped working. She restarts the game and everything is fine until the next time. Any ideas?

Have you tried reinstalling the DX9 runtimes to see if that helps? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=8109

I will have my wife give that a try. It will be a while to tell if that works or not. Thanks.

Yesterday she got thrown out of the game again. So, reinstalling the DX9 runtimes did not work for her.

I've had the same problem. Changing to DirectX10 in options seemed the have solved the problem for now.

    That choice is grayed out.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I've changed the display adapter too. See picture.
