Fey Lights vs Greater Color Spray

Has anyone dropped Greater Color Spray in favor of Fey Lights and been happy with the performance?

I guess there was a change some time ago that made GCS permanently fixed at a level 5 spell? Heighten doesn't affect the advertised DC check in the icon. Same thing for Fey Lights, Heighten doesn't change the DC shown in the icon.

Fey Lights DC check is is 3 higher than GCS.

Fey Lights costs 10 sp vs 4 for GCS.

Fey Lights daze, silence, and blind effects only last about 2-3 seconds; GCS daze and silence last around 8 seconds and blindness a bit longer, 11 seconds?

You get some upgrades to Fey Lights to affect normally immune mobs like slimes and turns the daze into a stun; but GCS daze already works like a stun, or no?

It's really the effect duration that ruins Fey Lights for me. Way too short...

Can anyone make a case for using Fey Lights at all, assuming it's for a caster character at level 20 and epic leveling, not at end game.

I'm not in game at the moment, but the last time I did testing on Fey Lights when a player noticed some funniness with its DC calculations, it was found that even though the DC was higher potentially for Fey Lights, many if not all of the effect DC's were Fortitude based, resulting in being signigicantly weaker than Greater Colour Spray by a wide margin. I am currently uncertain if this was fixed. But if it remained the same as when I tested it, then unless if you are aiming to tackle Plant and Slimes with it, Fey Lights is worse then Greater Colour Spray subsequently.

Fey lights either needs a longer duration or have it guarantee a proc from the shiradi mantle. Right now shiradi is horrible compared to other caster destinies so I feel like having a guaranteed proc every 6 seconds would make up for the abysmal spell proc chance.

I did some testing on the Deep Gnome version of Greater Color Spray on stream yesterday and it can be heightened. As far as I can tell, the Deep Gnome version is a level 5 spell, base DC = DC 15 + Int + Illusion.

In my test, I got 6th level wizard spell slots. Turned on heighten and noted that its DC did increase by one and check the DC in PVP and was accurate.

Fey Lights, in my experience, 3s is too short to accomplish much, but its ability to hit basically everything is certainly appealing.
