Log out bug new feature

So I try to log out, doesn't work, I alt-tab for about 10 minutes. Come back and there's a group I wanna join. I do, we go on to do 95% of the quest and about fifteen minutes in, the game logs me out. I click to log back in, I reappear in the quest only the quest window is gonne. I can't complete, I can't recall, I can't finish. No xp, can still loot. Can't control my arti-puppy for some reason.

I /death, get ported to my ship, still can't control arti-puppy.

I haven't used logout for pretty much that reason in years. It takes it's own sweet time to complete.

Well, now thats a new one for sure. I have waited a few minutes to log out before, but never like you described. Maybe you're on Orion? The more players, the more lag, and the more porting/logging issues.

Lol, just gotta put that dig in to try to scare more folks from bailing from empty servers eh? I haven't seen any lag on Orien that is worse than any other server.

I noticed this last night. If you execute the logout command, and then open your inventory and attempt to highlight an item it goes quick.

The bug I've seen on almost every logout lately is the logout never completing until I alt-tab away from the DDO app. This is after going to the black screen from character select.

I can alt-tab away in 30 seconds and I logout or I can alt-tab away after 10 minutes and I logout. Just logging out from the character select screen is like a 10% chance at this point.

Not on Orien or Sarlona. In fact I reproduced the bug on Wayfinder the other night.

I have this log out delay sometimes. Usually it's worse / more likely to happen when I logout where more other players are also active. Additionally I find it happens more often and lasts longer on the characters that I've had for years, though it still does happen on newer characters as well.

If I go somewhere that's relatively empty I don't see it happening.

Well, then that settles that, Im on Sarlona also. Must just be that the game really loves you :-) Its just wierd how lag works in this game. Sometimes hardly any, then other times way too often, though thats usually when the server population is higher for me.

Definitely not a new thing. There was a period I was trying to video record how bad the logout time can be by logging out and then completing The Pit before the logout happened, but "unfortunately" the logout system decided to pick up the pace while the camera was rolling.

The player "bad quest state" is the result. Also can happen sometimes from a "recovering from failed teleport"

If you log out then back in while in the quest it will fix this condition just need someone to hold the instance.
It works even if the quest is complete. You will get the completion when you log back in.

Ah, very good to know. I hope I never have to test it out, but good to know.

It's not new.
This happened before the "recovering from failed teleport" bug was fixed, partially.
In Wheloon finale, when you hit the "recovering from failed teleport" bug you received exactly what the OP described.

Logging out and back in fixed it.
