Default Wearing the same gear from 21-29

I do that but only because there is really nothing else worth having. What little gear there is available is long outdated or underwhelming. Stat bonuses are about 4+ points behind random loot.
Gearing up every 5 levels or so is one of my favorite parts of DDO. It gives me a sense of advancement, improvement and achievement.

Can we get some worthwhile intermediary epic gear at some point? Preferably in the 25/26 slot.
Sometimes I pull one out just to watch it die over and over. That's how much I hate hires.

I use mostly the same gear from 15 to 29. I usually do CC craft a few updates at 23ish. But the named items (apart from named weapons at 20ish) are useless to me.

This was due to the stat crunch. Don't think we'll get anything worthwhile in that range in the future especially with legendary levels becoming a thing in the not too distant future.

Yeah there's not much newer-scaled gear in that bracket, epic catacombs stuff that's ML23 is probably the closest (i like maugerite's necklace for the multiple stacking HP effects) before you hit slave lords crafted at ML28 & then the ML29 stuff, though weapons-wise there are some solid options, particularly the older ML26 ToEE ones that have extended critical ranges.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Oh you get to re-gear at 21? Lucky. I wear the same gear from 15 to 29, some of it is even lower(heroic greensteel).

There is very little useful equipment between 21 and 29. I call it the gear desert.

There's Legendary Greensteel... if you feel like farming the Shroud for a year. Personally I've still not collected enough large ingredients to complete a single item. Its very frustrating. At least with heroic greensteel the mats were unbound and you could buy/trade for the parts you needed.

Then there's the DOJ raid which is... again, 6-12 months worth of farming depending on your luck; and even then the gear is ML26 and just not that great.

Its not just gear either. There's also a content-desert in there.
If I can read the dev tracker, you can too.

I mostly regear at lvl 20 with a set of Saltmarsh and at least one of the Red Fens sets, usually two, using the gem. Better stats and bonuses than just relying on Sharn gear. I also usually use a lvl 21 main stat item from KotB.

Levelling to 29 is usually done on r1 and zerg and this gear set does just fine.

You are right, though, regearing with (non-weapon) items from 22-28 is mostly not worth it.

Not completely. I use a few things from borderlands mixed with 15 and 10 gear.

Yeah I figured as much, I was largely being melodramatic. I don't bother with the KotB gear even though I farmed it all.

That's how I do it. I start with one of the named item sets from Sharn/Sharn docks, add the belt/ring for my mainstat from the Borderlands items, then supplement the rest of my gear with other stuff in the 15-21 range, plus the ML22 festive augment for the main stat.

Just worked out some gearsets mostly using heroic Slavers and Dread gear that I plan to use from 8 to 22, one set for all melee/range, one for all casters. Main reason I'm doing this is so that I don't spend a lot of time managing gear every reincarnation.

Blame the stat crunch dude. Devs complaining we are wearing level 50+ equivalent gear, players complaining the gap is too much between vets and newbs, etc... Now there is no point in switching gear 15 until 29. Wait til gear inflation happens again at level 40. Devs will act like gear progression is of course natural, not something they said wouldn't happen again.

I do wish more Epic level quests would be added. Ideally, new quests would be released with Heroic, Epic, and Legendary difficulties!
That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.
Feature wishlist: colour-coded HP bars; red/blue teams in raids; rez-timer in party menu

I’d prefer if they made stand alone quests in any range than make the same quests in heroic epic and legendary

The reason most gear between 20 and 28/29 isn't worth using is because it hasn't been updated to the "new" scaling system. L20 Eveningstar gear gives +7 ability scores, 3BC gear gives +8, most of shadowfell gear only has 2 or 3 stats on it instead of 4 or 5 like modern named gear, Gianthold gear is a joke, etc etc. This stuff is totally outclassed by "new" scaling system gear by as early as level 13 now.

The only old stuff that's still nice are a few items with abnormal crit ranges, and gear with +60 hamp. Cannith crafting is stronger and more versatile.

I use some borderlands gear like main stat and con. But other than that I mainly use heroics until 29. My reasoning is I dislike the BtC on equip, that stuff is just sent food.

    Pure comedy ^^^

The problem of gearing in Epics has been around since its inception. The only play style that cared about gearing was DC PM's.

The "problem" of gearing is the introduction of levels and that has been around even longer.

For the OP, there is Saltmarch and Sands stuff that you can make epic.

    Those are level 20.

No. That's not true. Any class that used DC's would be concerned. From fighters stuns and trips to bards dancing balls to any toon that uses CC.

This is why I invested in CC... I have sets from lv 1 (dual-augmented weapon with +2D6 from enchantments and another 2D6 from augments), 4, 9/10, 14/15, 19/20, 24/25, 30/33 to fill all my needs. People often overlook this option. Granted you can miss out on some of the 'set' bonuses but you cover all your bases.

The lack of up to date gear from 21-29 is in complete contrast to heroic levels. There's tons of gear for level 1. For level 3. For level 4 and 5. For level 7, 8, and 10. Then it slows down somewhat and you go to level 13, then 15, then 18. And finally, 20 and 21. After that it's no mans land. There is some stuff but it's often class specific with no set bonuses and largely outdated or outright useless.

True, there's CC crafting, but I didn't write this to promote cannith crafting. I'm just asking for relevant gear to be available in the level 25-26 range. We can go from 21 to 25/6 then to cap.
