Well it may not win any awards but it an age were Hollywood thinks D&D is so 1980's I am glad to see something that will keep D&D in the minds of another generation.

As for the cast, anyone can be a barbarian. The movie Conan kind of set the stand when we think of what a barbarian would look like but in fact barbarian tribes would not have that kind of sculped body builder look.

Just my take on it anyway,
If it ain't broke, you're not trying hard enough.

Looks like its not going to be taking itself too seriously & just be a fun ride, I'm all for that.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

not another d&d comedy with cringey joke, still trying to recover from vox machina. and a bard as main char? even more cringey.

why not a d&d horror movie, try something new ffs

Moving to Off Topic. I am really excited for the movie! But this isn't about DDO, and since I expect a lot of chat about the movie in the coming months, I want to start making sure this discussion happens in the right place. Maybe we need a stickied superthread about the movie.
Have fun, and don't forget to gather for buffs!

Looks like a Producer saw Thor: L&T or the Guardians of the Galaxy and said, "That, but ya know... dragons. Maybe a dungeon or two. Maybe."

The more I see of it, the more I think it's gonna be pretty bad. The humor falls flat on it's face (and not in the funny way), and the CGI is worse.

It could be awful, it could be fun. But for an old guy like me the whole idea is nonsensical. D&D was created to allow people to play fantasy stories and movies as games. It was a rule set and not a story in and of itself. A movie called D&D just doesn't make sense unless it about people playing a role playing game. I could see maybe a Jumanji-esqe movie using the Dungeons and Dragons name.

But this looks like a fantasy movie with some D&D monster/party references. If they are telling a fantasy story, it isn't really D&D is it? But you could play the movie using the D&D rules.

I may still go watch it.

It seems to be getting good critical reviews! I will be seeing it on Sunday as part of an early screening due to a deal between Amazon Prime and Atom Tickets, if you have Prime and a theatre nearby participating you can too: https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/1...C?channel=PEAS

We also have an SSG movie outing for it later in the month.

There are plenty of "bad" movies that are enjoyable to have seen, for exactly how equisitely bad they were.

I mean... it has to be better than Beastmaster or that 2nd Conan movie, dunnit?

    She’s too small and untalented

That said I have my ticket for tomorrow so I can honestly judge and I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised

Movie's good, y'all. Absolutely loved it.

Now that I've seen it I want to be SUPER CLEAR this is a NO SPOILER zone until at least March 31st. Sharing officially-released videos and links is ok, though, people can choose themselves whether to follow or watch. Go in relatively cold and enjoy it, even your non-D&D family and friends will have fun. It's a big popcorn movie and felt great, very much like the fun tabletop experience I've enjoyed. Entire cast and crew was wonderful. I'm thrilled I got to see it today!
